😵💫 SHOULD YOU THROUGH PAIN? 😵💫
Short answer is no, but it’s not always as simple as that…
Because this can then make pain seem like “the enemy” and you can’t progress until you feel no pain (which might not always be the case)🤔
We definitely don’t want to push through severe, sharp, 6+/10 pain that doesn’t settle, as that doesn’t do anyone any good🫣
And us physio’s sometimes have a bad rep for just telling people to stop activities if there’s pain…
This is where we tackle things a bit differently😯 and why pain is always managed individually💡
Rule of thumb:
- as long as it stays below a 4/10
- doesn’t really worsen during and particularly after
- doesn’t increase swelling or affect night pain/sleep
We still might need to adapt things around this to allow your pain to continue settling, but this way we don’t need to stop completely👍🏼
