We're so grateful to Music for All for their support, which has enabled us to spread joy through song to people living with dementia, and their carers!

We are happy to hear that thanks to a Music for All grant, Freedom Of Mind Community Choir were able to run more of their dementia sing-along sessions! The event received so much positive feedback, with participants and carers enjoying it alike.

They said: “It was great to have several ‘returning’ individuals who have been before, including a lady who previously came to support her husband, who had dementia, although he sadly died in August. Her friend said ‘even though she’s only got sciatica, she decided to come back because they both had such a nice time together last time’.”

We LOVE being able to fund incredible projects like this. It shows that music is for everyone and can bring people closer together.

Please support Music for All in their effort to fund more amazing projects like this one by becoming a Music for All Champion! Learn more by clicking the link below:

Here are some more photos from recent performances we've enjoyed - this time, thanks to Falkirk Council's Community Choices funding... and here's some feedback from our community audiences:

"You really got my emotions. You have a special gift of being together and you shared that with us. You were even better than we were led to believe. It’s not just a performance you have given to us today, it was a real gift. You lifted our spirits”.

“There were ladies in wheelchairs here today who haven’t been out of their rooms in months but they came down for this, and they loved it. Even though they can’t say many words, they said “really good”.

“We hope very much that you’ll come back, that was fantastic.”

We have seven more local performances to follow before Christmas! We're looking forward to spreading more joy in the months to come :)

Well done to our choir members who managed along yesterday to support Team Jak Foundation- Jak's Den fundraising at The Helix to support children and young people with cancer and their families at the Kelpies on day 2025. They all did great, on a breezy day which carried their singing far … and there was sunshine, hurrah! We're happy to be incorporating even more songs into our set which focus on community, unity and peace...

Well, it's been a very busy time lately, with choir members getting out and about, spreading joy in our local area, thanks to funding from thanks to CVS Falkirk's Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund.

Here are a few snaps from our recent performances at The Bellfield Centre, Blackfaulds Nursing Home, Caledonian Court care home, Forth Valley Royal Hospital and Ivybank House Care Home - thanks to our choir members for giving their time to make all this possible :) We also performed in Bellsdyke Hospital but we can't take pictures there. Here's some recent feedback we received:

“Just to let you know what a wonderful afternoon our residents had, the song choices were brilliant and to see so many people of the choir taking a lead role was wonderful. Thank you again and I hope you can fit us in for a December date. Please thank all the members of the choir.”

"The work you do is amazing. Thank you so much."

More photos to follow next week... watch this space!

A huge thank you to our staff, volunteers, committee and choir members, and all of our special guests who joined us for the musicals themed singalong on Wednesday!

We tried out a new seating plan, and the vast majority of our guests thought it was an improvement:

“I think it’s nicer - cosier.” “Better seating like this - it’s a better mix” “I think it’s better like this” “I like it”

And overall, here's some feedback from the session:

“I enjoy myself” “Lovely - the whole hour flew by” "It’s not what I expected. I thought it was a concert, but I’m enjoying singing” “I'm enjoying myself thoroughly”

Thanks to Impact Funding Partners The Scottish Government Music for All for making it possible!
