At CA First Aid we offer a range of First Aid courses to suit every need, from Emergency First Aid at Work to Outdoor First Aid. Our HSE approved instructors are vastly experienced, both in First Aid training and in real-life situations. They are trained to a very high standard and are all either outdoor instructors, active members of Mountain Rescue teams or offshore Medics. This expertise over a number of disciplines allows us to tailor each course to your individual requirements. We specialise in in-house training in your place of work to ensure that the skills taught are completely relevant. In addition to this, we use life-like scenario-based training to reinforce learning and to develop practical skills. This method of training uses realistic situations based in the environment in which your team may be required to provide First Aid. We also strongly believe that people learn more effectively in a relaxed environment and so we strive to make our courses fun and flexible, in addition to being as informative as possible.

🌲 To every tree planter, forester, and farm worker out there — when did you last check your blood pressure?

You're outdoors. You're physical. You work harder before 9am than most people do all day. It's easy to assume that means you're in the clear health-wise.

But here's what too many people in our industry find out the hard way: high blood pressure doesn't care how hard you work. It's called the "silent killer" because it has no symptoms — no pain, no warning — until something goes seriously wrong.

And if you're fuelling long shifts in the field with energy drinks, you need to know this:

⚡ A single large energy drink can spike your blood pressure by up to 10 mmHg and push your heart rate up significantly
⚡ The effects can last 3–4 hours — right through your working day
⚡ Dehydration from physical outdoor work makes the cardiovascular strain even worse
⚡ 1 in 8 young adults already has elevated blood pressure — most don't know it

Whether you're planting on a hillside, operating machinery, running a chainsaw, or bringing in a harvest — your heart is your most important piece of kit. Look after it.

✅ What to do right now: Get a free blood pressure check at your local pharmacy — takes two minutes. Know your numbers. If you're regularly drinking energy drinks or have a family history of heart problems, make it a priority this week. Don't wait for a symptom that may never come.

Share this with someone who works outdoors. It might be the most important thing you do today. 💚

We're looking for skilled, experienced Forwarder and Harvester Operators to support harvesting operations across our own Tilhill managed sites and FLS DP contracts.

We are looking for individuals who take pride in producing a high standard of work, operating safely, and contributing positively to a professional team environment.

Opportunities are available in the Central Belt and South West Scotland, with the following seats currently available:

🌲 Komatsu 875 (1,160 hrs)
🌲 Komatsu 931 (5,500 hrs – pictured)
🌲 Tigercat 822 Leveller (5,500 hrs)
🌲 Ponsse Buffalo (9,700 hrs)
🌲 John Deere 1510G (7,500 hrs)

Applicants must hold the appropriate FMO Certification and valid First Aid +F, and be able to work effectively as part of a wider team on site.

Both employed and self-employed arrangements will be considered for the right candidates.
