Have you heard of surfers ear?! After seeing many new cases in the last few years, I thought I would talk about it! Regular contact with anything cold in your ears can result in boney growths coming in from the side of your ear canal. These growths can eventually touch and completely block the ear canal. I have seen this in surfers, sea swimmers, and also in farmers, runners, cyclists. Anywhere where cold wet weather may be accessing your ears! Prevention is definitely better than cure! Ear plugs in the sea or a woolly hat on land. Protect your lovely little shell likes! πŸ‘‚πŸ»πŸ’•

Let’s talk about the dreaded cotton wool bud! I have pulled the second one this year out of an ear today! As tempting as it is, we don’t need to use them. The likelihood is that more wax is being pushed in than pulled out! Ears are self cleaning, the wax migrates and falls out of your ears naturally. The little bit of wax that is there provides your ear with a lovely pH level which protects your ears from infection. A little bit of wax is good for you, resist the bud! πŸ’•
