It’s Stress Awareness Week

Did you know that 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health issue at some point in their lives?

Stress, anxiety, and depression are among the most common, and they can affect anyone, at any stage. Whether caused by personal challenges or pressures at work, it’s important to remember that you’re not alone, and support is always available.

At Guardian Angel Carers Fareham, we understand how vital it is to look after both the physical and emotional wellbeing of our clients and CareAngels. Taking time to talk, rest, and reach out for help when needed can make all the difference.

Let’s use this week to check in on ourselves, and on each other. Together, we can encourage open conversations and promote positive mental health.

World Stroke Day – A story of strength and recovery

Three and a half years ago, Mac had a stroke and lost the confidence to return to the kitchen, something he had always loved.

With the support of our amazing CareAngels, Mac has gradually rebuilt his self-assurance, and today he’s not only back cooking but has even made pizzas from scratch (along with a few other tasty creations too!).

His journey is a wonderful reminder that with the right support, patience, and encouragement, recovery can bring back the things we love most.

The Fareham Team were full of praise after taking part in ‘Dying for a Cuppa – The Masterclass’ with Katie Costello - Soul Midwife and Funeral Celebrant .

They found the session thought-provoking, engaging, and empowering, sparking great conversations and helping the team feel more confident talking about difficult subjects with compassion and understanding.

Here’s what some of the team had to say:

“I found the training really interesting and learned so much, I had no idea there was such a thing as a soul midwife! It helped me realise that people aren’t always afraid of death itself, but of the process of dying. The session also opened my eyes to how my clients might be feeling day to day, that what can sometimes seem like awkwardness may actually come from a loss of control. I was fascinated to discover that I now have more training in end-of-life care than many GPs or doctors. I really enjoyed it”! Lily, CareAngel

“The EOL training I attended on Friday was truly invaluable. I gained a great deal of insight and practical knowledge that I will carry forward into my work, especially when supporting clients who are nearing or in the end stage of their lives. The training helped deepen my understanding of compassionate communication, emotional support, and best practices in end-of-life care. I feel much more confident and prepared to provide the empathy and respect that clients and their families need during such a sensitive time. Thank you, Katie, for such an inspiring and meaningful session”! Sophie, CareAngel & Team Leader

The team are in full swing with their “Dying for a Cuppa” Masterclass with Katie Costello!

A CPD-accredited session exploring death education from a human perspective, helping us better understand the dying process, what it looks like, and how we can best support those at the end of life.

An insightful, compassionate, and thought-provoking morning (with plenty of tea, of course!).
