When we lose a loved one, the only real thing we have left that matters is the memories you made together.
Make as many as you can, and love as much as possible.

Sarah Hoey

Sarah decided during Covid that her hairdressing business wasn’t giving her the satisfaction she was looking for anymore. She found a calling towards funeral celebrancy, a career which has brought her so much.

“Death often comes as a shock, and it can be difficult to formulate all your memories and thoughts under a time of immense sadness and pressure. I will ask lots of questions and aim to get the best information to allow me to create a really full and beautiful service.”
Sarah Hoey.

This is what grief is.
A hole ripped through the very fabric of your being.
The hole eventually heals along the jagged edges that remain. It may even shrink in size.
But that hole will always be there.
A piece of you always missing.
For where there is deep grief, there was great love.
Don’t be ashamed of your grief.
Don’t judge it.
Don’t suppress it.
Don’t rush it.
Rather, acknowledge it.
Lean into it.
Listen to it.
Feel it.
Sit with it.
Sit with the pain. And remember the love.
This is where the healing will begin.

A year today, dad. ❤️

The Day That Changed Things

The sunrise looked thoughtful this morning
As it delicately peeked over the rooftops;
The noises and chatter in the house
Seemed softer somehow
As we went about our morning life;
Even the traffic was more subdued
As it hushed along the distant motorway.
One year ago,
Twelve cycles of the moon,
A winter, spring, summer and autumn
A door shut in my life,
And so we arrive at the first reminder
of The Day That Changed Things.

I can still conjure your voice.
Your blue eyes.
The bristles on your cheek.

I’ll think about you a lot today.
