📝 Creative Writing – A Lived Experience Workshop with Laura Dockrill, Friday 9th May, 12.30pm – 1.30pm on Zoom.

To mark this year’s Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week, we are delighted that Laura Dockrill, What Have I Done? author and Action on Postpartum Psychosis (APP) ambassador, is running another online writing session for members of the APP Network community who have experienced postpartum psychosis.

Join us for a relaxed creative writing session offering a warm, gentle, no-pressure environment to write for you and your wellbeing as we reflect on the week’s theme of ‘Your Voice, Your Strength’.

There is no experience required and no need for fancy vocabulary or incredible spelling and grammar skills. This is a chance for your heart and head to do some talking. So, leave that inner-critic and expectation behind. All you need is something to write with and on.

Love this so much - try not to slam on the brakes when you 'hit ice'....and the unexpected comes your way....

You know I love a good metaphor! In this conversation, Amy compares the unpredictable change that's happening right now to hitting a patch of ice while you're driving. She explains that we have to resist the human reflex to slam on the brakes and instead steer into the ice.

It's the perfect metaphor because that out-of-control spin-y feeling is exactly how most of us feel right now.

I think you're going to really love her take on the world, the three trends that make up the current "super cycle" of change (AI, wearable technology, and biotechnology), and the need to increase our capacity for uncertainty (ugh).

A perfect Hollie Poetry moment to start off Maternal Mental Healthy week - your baby a) probably won't spend time in the nursery (SERIOUSLY) b) will never remember it c) gives no cares about it - babies want human contact (so invest in a range of slings ..hire before you buy...I have contacts) FOLLOW TICKS guidelines ....buy THE biggest bed that will fit in your bedroom.... you'll likely end up co-sleeping at some point...and best to have it planned...than not know what's safe because of exhaustion and it's out of desperation. Info and Links for TICKS and safe cosleeping in comments - Same deal goes for your first pram... you'll likely change your mind...try a decent 2nd hand one... save £££ ...and if you become a sling lover (or baby does)...then you might find you end up putting your shopping in the pram!!!

Long title, short poem. I post this every time I get sent too many ads which would have made me feel like a s**t parent when my kid was little 💜

[image description: poem with a very long title written in white font on a bright pinky purple background: poem reads:

POEM FOR ANYONE STRESSING ABOUT THE FACT THAT YOUR BABY’S NURSERY DOESN’T LOOK LIKE THE NURSERIES YOU’VE SEEN ON THE TOP TEN TRENDY NURSERIES BLOG OR THE INSTAGRAM NURSERIES HASHTAG OR THE ‘HOW TO CREATE A BEAUTIFUL NURSERY’ ARTICLE IN THE PARENTING GUIDE YOU BOUGHT TO HELP YOU DECORATE YOUR BABY’S NURSERY

no baby gives a f**k]

Save the dates! Monday 1st – Sunday 7th May 2023 marks Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week and APP is keen to get as many people involved as possible.

Awareness weeks like this are a brilliant opportunity to get more people talking about postpartum psychosis (and the signs and symptoms to look out for), and to ensure that anyone affected doesn’t feel alone and knows where they can turn to for help and support.

As such, we’ll be sharing personal stories, signposting people to support, information and advice, and raising awareness.

In addition to , organised by Perinatal Mental Health Partnership, there will be a focused World Maternal Mental Health Day(Wed 3rd) and Pregnancy & Postpartum Psychosis, PPP, Awareness Day (Fri 5th). The theme for the full week is 'Together In A Changing World'.

To find out more, join the free 'APP Network' community and receive our Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week newsletter and follow on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.

I recommend this as a form of therapy to all my clients

Grounding is a energetic phenomena one experiences when their bare skin directly connects to Mother Earth. To be grounded is to be energetically centered, to give your energy a point of focus. Life is all about balance and as earthly beings we truly belong in close quarters to the most natural areas of this planet. We simply are not meant to be indoors and wearing rubber soles every time we leave the house. Modern living has definitely limited the raw contact our bodies have to the earth below our feet. Our bodies starve to be in contact with the earth's electricity on a daily basis. The same natural dirt that provides us with a surface to live on, and space to grow our food charges our bodies with much needed negative ions.

We all have energetic bodies and everything around us comes from pure energy. Today’s technology has a way of infecting us with “dirty energy” or energy that hurts us instead of helps us. Ironically it’s the positive ions that cause us the most harm. Exposing ourselves to more positive ions (electrical energy or dirty energy) then negative ions over a lifetime or less can destroy our health. The cure is the earth's natural healing powers. It’s free and easy to obtain. There’s no catch! Once our skin makes contact with the earth, those positive ions are neutralized and we are again in balance. Balance will support us in living well with good health and prosperity. Most importantly we will feel great!

Why should we ground? Why not?! We have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
