It’s Time to Talk About Men’s Health here in Farnborough 💜

We know many older men can find it difficult to ask for help — or to talk openly about how they’re feeling.

This month, we’re highlighting the preventative support our Care Professionals offer here in the local area. We match clients with like-minded individuals who share similar hobbies and interests — and male Care Professionals are available if preferred.

From medication prompts to gentle encouragement around appointments, nutrition and daily activity, we help keep independence and wellbeing on track at home.

🎃 A Safe and Considerate Halloween 🎃

As Halloween approaches, we know how much fun it can be for children (and adults!) to dress up and enjoy an evening of trick-or-treating. But for some older people in our community, unexpected knocks at the door after dark can feel a little unsettling.

At Home Instead, we’re helping to keep Halloween safe and enjoyable for everyone by offering ‘No Trick or Treating’ signs to any of our clients who would prefer a quieter evening. 🏡✨

Let’s all do our part to make sure the night is full of treats, not tricks, for every neighbour.

When Vivian first came home from rehab care in a residential home in May 2023, she faced some real challenges — no mobility, no motivation, and a hospital bed set up downstairs. With a catheter in place and limited movement, it felt like her days of independence were far behind her.

With the support and encouragement of our dedicated Live-in Care Professionals and regular weekly physio, things slowly began to change. Step by step, Vivian’s confidence and motivation grew, and walking around her beautiful garden again one day soon seemed within reach.

Just over two years later, Vivian is walking around not only her garden but her village! Driving independently, travelling to see family abroad and has reduced care to just two hourly visits a week to keep benefiting from the companionship and home help 🚗✨

Vivian’s journey is a wonderful reminder of what’s possible with the right team around you, a little encouragement and a whole lot of determination! We’re so proud to have been part of it.
