Solution Focused Practitioners! I have set up a new separate FB page called the Solution Focused Studio for Practitioners (SFSP) which is all about things SF, SFH and supervision.

I recently made video about the origins of SFBT, particularly useful if you're interested in learning more or working your way through your HPD qualification. It's rather epic at 50mins long, but hopefully something of interest and counts toward CPD.

Do you experience discomfort from IBS? Gut-directed clinical hypnotherapy is one of the options recommended by NICE to people experiencing irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) particularly when other avenues of treatment have not had the desired outcome.

At the Solution Focused Studio we stay up-to-date with the latest methods and research, and have offered a specific programme for people with IBS for a number of years with positive outcomes for clients, including clinical hypnosis, self-hypnosis and solution focused brief therapy - a positive type of talking therapy.
We understand that it's not just about physical symptoms but the stress and anxiety that can add significantly to how people are feeling. Our aim is to help you be more in control of it, rather than it being in control of you.

IBS isn't straightforward as each person is an individual; it's a lifelong condition that needs to be managed. But we follow the leading research and use the best tools available - it is truthful to say that there often isn't really a 100% cure for the condition. Quite often it's a mix of medicine, diet and hypnotherapy - however there isn't anyone that we haven't been able to help in some way yet, particularly with getting some of their 'old self' back and understanding the mind-gut connection.

Earlier this year another promising research paper was published by clinicians at the Neurogastroenterology Unit, atWythenshawe Hospital, Manchester showing the positive effects of gut-directed hypnotherapy on patients. What have we been doing in our therapy studio over the last month? Here are some of the issues we’ve been helping clients with recently….. any of these surprise you?

Solution Focused Therapy and Hypnotherapy are powerful, evidence-based tools that can be used to support people in making changes in how they think, feel or behave by working directly with thought and behaviour patterns in the brain. That’s why we’re not limited to working with one particular issue or area of support - we work towards the goal that you bring. We specialise in helping people create change.

Not all our clients will need clinical hypnotherapy, sometimes just solution-focused brief therapy (positive talking therapy) with us is the right route and we always cover the science behind why we can experience certain issues. We are using what we know about how the brain works to help us create change as effectively and efficiently as possible.

Our aim is always to help you create the change you want to see, often where other types of therapy or ‘coaching’ have not had the desired effect.

Box breathing is a really useful, practical breathing exercise you can use to help calm the mind and body.
Often, when we are tense, worried or stressed, our breathing becomes quicker or more shallow. This exercise helps to control and slow down your breathing, giving relaxation signals to the body.

For such a simple exercise, it can be very effective and give you the important moments you need to de-escalate, slow down and take a breath. It's also a wonderful exercise to help wind down before sleep. It can be used by adults, teens and children.

Yesterday I had the great privilege to be invited to spend the whole day delivering three 'Understanding Anxiety' presentations to around 300 amazing Teachers, Associate Staff and Student Leaders at the outstanding Weydon School in Farnham, Surrey, as part of their ongoing commitment to support mental health and wellbeing awareness in the school.

A legacy of the Student Six Leaders of 2021/22 and positively supported by the Principal, Mrs J Sharman and her team, it was a busy but incredibly rewarding day that also offered the opportunity to introduce Solution-Focused tools to support people who may be experiencing anxiety, panic attacks or overwhelm.

I will be continuing to work with the school as part of this legacy and feel so incredibly inspired by their tremendous commitment to positively support staff, students and parents by raising awareness and understanding of these issues. What a fabulous day!

Our Story

My name is Elaine Way and I’m an accredited and experienced Clinical Hypnotherapist, Solution Focused Brief Therapist and Anxiety Expert. I am the owner of the Solution Focused Studio, a thriving clinical therapy practice based in Farnham, Surrey. Using expert training and knowledge of the latest neuroscience, we give clients positive and effective tools to move forwards in life and be the person they want to be. Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapy is a powerful and efficient combination of Solution Focused Brief Therapy (positive talking psychotherapy) and clinical hypnosis. This means that unlike other older types of counselling or therapy, we don’t need to spend time focusing on your problems or your past, because we harness the proven power of the brain to create positive change in thought and behaviour patterns. We focus on where it is you want to be and using science and recognised positive psychotherapy tools, find positive ways to make that future a reality as efficiently as possible. We focus on reaching solutions.

We are experts at working with anxiety and problems related to anxiety; insomnia and sleep problems; addiction; phobias; low mood and many problems that arise if you find yourself thinking or behaving in a way that is unhelpful, because often these issues start in the thought processes of the brain. We are professional, non-judgemental, respectful, positive, confidential and discreet, which is why most clients come to us following personal recommendation.
