Title: The Profound Privilege of Palliative Care
What does it mean to make a difference? In my work in palliative care, it doesn’t always look like what you might think.
It’s in the quiet moments: holding a hand that needs to feel connected, giving a gentle massage to ease not just physical tension but the weight of worry, or finding a way to share a laugh in the middle of a deeply tough day.
These acts of simple, human kindness are at the core of what I do. They’re not extras; they’re essential. They’re about honoring the person, not just the illness.
People often ask me how I can do this work. The truth is, it gives me more than I could ever give. To be invited into someone’s life at its most vulnerable stage, to provide comfort and a moment of peace—it fills my heart with a purpose that is impossible to describe.
The greatest reward isn’t found in being paid ; it’s the profound gratitude in a smile, the peace in a settled breath, and the knowledge that in some small way, I helped someone feel seen, soothed, and valued. ❤️
