*Introducing our new Unattended Cremation Plan*

We are excited to announce we are adding to our funeral plan products with the launch of our ‘Unattended Cremation Plan.’

At Thorne-Leggett Funeral Directors we are committed to creating funeral plans which meet the individual circumstances and needs of our clients.

This new plan, priced at £1,795, now provides an option for customers who would prefer a more simple and dignified cremation without the frills of a traditional service, with no family, friends or mourners present. In addition, we have made some positive changes to our existing Choice Essentials and Choice Plus Plans.

FACE COVERINGS AT FUNERALS

Due to recent updates on the wearing for face coverings from the Government & Public Health England, it is now mandatory for those attending a funeral to wear a mask or other suitable face covering.

This includes, churches, crematoriums, other places of worship and any enclosed venue where a funeral service will be taking place.

The following people are exempt from the rules:

• young children under the age of 11.
• not being able to put on, wear or remove a face covering because of a physical or mental illness, impairment, or disability.
• if putting on, wearing or removing a face covering will cause the wearer severe distress.
• if you are travelling with or providing assistance to someone who relies on lip reading to communicate.

The wearing of face coverings also applies to those who are visiting funeral homes to make funeral arrangements, visiting the chapel of rest and for any other business.

This is an ever changing situation and we will endeavour to keep you updated on any further developments.

Thank you for your kindness and understanding at such a difficult time for everyone, from all of us at Thorne-Leggett.

Due to measures introduced by the government to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, please find below advice given to us by our trade body the National Association of Funeral Directors:

Thorne-Leggett will remain open, but funerals should be arranged over the phone or via other electronic means, wherever possible. If a funeral must be arranged in person, please respect the social distancing guidance – keep two metres apart, wash hands frequently, and cough or sneeze into a tissue/crook of your elbow and limit the number of people attending in person to arrange the funeral.

Do not arrange a funeral in person if anyone involved has symptoms or should be self-isolating, in accordance with government advice. It is vital that we do all we can to reduce the spread of the virus and that funeral service employees (who are key workers) can remain healthy and able to continue supporting bereaved families.

If you wish to view the deceased person by visiting the Chapel of Rest, please make arrangements with your funeral director for specific times and limit the numbers attending at any one time to those living in the same household. At-risk groups are strongly urged not to visit.

Funeral services should be restricted to the smallest possible number of attendees – ideally only the very immediate family and at-risk groups are urged not to attend.

Webcasting/live streaming of the funeral service (using professional or personal devices) may still be possible – thereby enabling other mourners to still participate without putting themselves and others at risk of harm.

Please don’t publicly advertise the funeral details to reduce the risk of other, well-meaning mourners arriving unexpectedly. They may be turned away at the door, which could be distressing for them and the bereaved family. It will also place funeral key workers at unnecessary risk of harm.

During the service, all mourners should remain two metres apart from anyone not living in their household at all times. Refrain from making physical contact with anyone outside of your household.

We understand this advice may be very difficult for families, and will do everything we can to help you say good bye – and perhaps plan a celebration of the person’s life in the months to come – but it is vitally important we respect Government guidance for social distancing, to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

Kindest Regards
