Rebalance and Recharge
A Candlelit, Calming, And Restorative Yoga Workshop
a luxurious experience for your body, mind, and soul
Authentic Indian Yoga with Gregory Angell
Sunday, 27th November (1600-1900)
A powerful combined practise that will nurture a deeper exploration and observation of the body, mind, emotions, heart, and soul.
Feel welcome to join this three hour workshop where we will go back to the roots of Yoga as taught in India, with a focus on Asana (posture) Pranayama (breathing), Mantra (chant), Mudra (hand gesture), Dhyana (meditation), and Nidra (deep relaxation). Through the use of these tools we will set the foundation to bring about a relaxed, grounded, and centered state of being.
There is something wonderful about hitting the pause button, taking time out from our habitual daily routines, being in a less reactive, fire-fighting mode and entering the realm of a blissful Yogic state. The weaving together of these restorative Yoga disciplines not only has a profound impact on our physical and emotional health - improved digestion and sleep, decreased blood pressure, heart and breathing rates – but it takes us to a space where we can rest peacefully in the expansive nature of our being.
Since Yoga has become mainstream in the West, more and more people are experiencing the benefits of this powerful practise. However, some of the principles of the original teachings are often getting lost. As a Yoga teacher I am passionate about transmitting the true essence of Yoga, making the grounding principles and values of Yoga understandable and approachable for everyone. Teaching gives me purpose and, by drawing on my direct experience/practise, my intention is to inspire and directly contribute to positive change in the lives of others.
Yoga is a timeless tool for self-transformation; to shift the way we perceive and experience everyday life; in the highs and (perhaps more importantly) in the lows. To positively change the way we live and promote our relationships. Knowing this is the essence of Yoga.
This session is open to everyone; all levels of practise from complete beginner to advanced; with modifications and variations being offered as a core element to support an individual practise.

A little more detail about the component parts of the workshop:
Asana - Releasing layers of built-up physical tension. Postures are used to bring about physical health; a gateway to calming the mind and soothing the emotions;
Pranayama- Pranayama refers to breathing exercises which clear physical and emotional obstacles in our body to free the breath and the flow of prana (life energy). The practise of Pranayama can supercharge your whole being;
Mantra - The healing powers of Sanskrit chanting are just now being discovered in the West, as many are seeing that Mantras are a powerful holistic alternative to the overwhelming number of drugs being prescribed for anxiety and depression. Mantras use sound waves (sound energy) to heal our minds on the subconscious level, where the roots of our modern anxieties are found. Additionally, they pe*****te our physical bodies on the subtle and cellular levels, where we are storing stuck energy and emotional pain;
Mudra - Yoga in your hands. Think remote Himalayan hilltops as opposed to polished Yoga studios. The Mudras have been practised for thousands of years and they remain as relevant today as they ever were. Those who’ve practised Mudras will agree that it’s a great sensation. The warmth of your hands and the gentle pressures exerted by your fingers in various positions makes you aware of the subtle flow(s) of energy in your body, which can be directed at will, using different hand positions to achieve a variety of outcomes, including the stilling of the body and mind; creating a centre of focus for meditation.
You may well ask: ‘How can something so subtle work such miracles?’ But isn’t that the case with all the many shades of Yoga, from Asana practise to the practise of Pranayama? The subtle magic of Mudras lies in how these sacred gestures help us to direct our life force energy (prana) according to our needs;
Dhyana - You are successfully meditating if you meditate. If you take one moment to see what is occurring inside your own mind, without getting involved in its contents, without engaging in the dialogue, just observing, you are doing it right. What happens to you as a result of the observation, therein lies the wild and magnificent adventure!
Meditation can help bring about a natural sense of peace and well-being that can extend into every aspect of our lives;
Nidra - There’s no substitute for a great night’s sleep, but there is a particular offering from Yoga that comes close: Yoga Nidra.
Yoga Nidra works by gently guiding you through four main stages of brainwave activity: Beta; Alpha; Theta; and Delta. The ultimate goal is to achieve a hypnagogic state, which falls between wakefulness and sleep. It’s that magical time just before you fall asleep when the body is in deep relaxation while the mind is still reasonably lucid.
As you progress through the four stages of brain wave activity, your physical and mental wellbeing can improve as stressful thoughts and tension start to fade away.
