What better way to spend a day than enjoying some fantastic musical entertainment, courtesy of one of our favourite local bands, Dusty Tracks. 🎤🎸

Our residents had a wonderful time listening to the talented musicians play and even joined in, singing along to their favourite songs. The Dusty Tracks band are volunteers who kindly give their time to entertain our residents. Every visit from the band brings so much cheer to the home.

On these wet and rainy days, we like to bring some colour and cheer into the home with our creative arts and crafts activities. Recently, our residents had a lot of fun decorating their own wooden boxes. They painted the boxes in beautiful, bright colours and finished them off with some glitter and gems. These are perfect little boxes to store their special things or to give as gifts to their loved ones, but more than anything, they had so much fun creating their own unique, artistic designs. 🎨🖌️

Painting is a very relaxing and calming activity, and having the opportunity to express their creative side brings a lot of joy to our residents.

We celebrated Bonfire Night at Ashton Manor with our own firework display for the residents in the garden of the home. The residents were delighted to see the fireworks fly up and explode, and fill the night sky with colour. 🎆

It was a lovely way to bring the Bonfire Night fun to our residents, and everyone had a lot of fun.

Our next residents’ meeting is taking place later this month, and we are looking forward to coming together to discuss our upcoming plans for the home.

These meetings are incredibly important, not only for letting our residents know about things that are happening over the next few months, but also to get their input on plans for the future of the home.

We want to ensure our residents’ voices are heard and we greatly value their input on anything from organised activities to menu options, and anything in between. We use this opportunity to discuss things like planned renovations, entertainment that is being booked, and of course, events for the upcoming festive season. This is also a great chance to get their feedback and for them to voice any issues that they feel are important to discuss. Our residents always have some fantastic insights and are as passionate about Ashton Manor as we are!

Earlier this week, we joined managers from our fellow Surrey-based Beritaz Care homes to visit the Care Roadshow South by Care Roadshows

We really enjoyed looking around the event and speaking to some of the great organisations offering new solutions to enhance care services. We were able to discover and discuss so many great ideas, as well as being introduced to service providers operating in the South.

This event was a fantastic education and networking opportunity for our team. We were able to explore the latest innovations in care practices, which is something we are particularly passionate about exploring and can offer so many benefits to the home. Our recent nomination for the ‘Innovation in Technology’ category at the 2025 Surrey Care Awards is a wonderful recognition of our commitment to advancing our care services by embracing the latest innovations and technologies within the care sector, and this is something we are committed to continuing.

We left the event feeling so inspired and have some really interesting new ideas to explore. It was lovely to enjoy the event with our Beritaz Care family.

It’s just one month until the Surrey Care Awards and we are looking forward to spending an evening celebrating with the other wonderful care providers based in Surrey.

We are very proud to be named as a finalist in three categories at this year’s awards: ‘Innovation in Technology’, ‘Champion of People and Progress’ and ‘Nursing Home of the Year’.

We are counting down the days until the awards and, win or lose, it is sure to be a fantastic evening and a great opportunity to celebrate as a team. Thank you to the Surrey Care Association for recognising our team and the hard work we put in to provide our residents with quality care. Keep your fingers crossed for us at the awards.

Today is World Mental Health Day, and in honour of this campaign, we wanted to share with you some of the ways we prioritise mental health and wellbeing within our homes. From building trust and encouraging communication, to supporting activities and pastimes that bring joy to our residents, mental health support is an important part of the care we provide in our homes. As well as our residents, we are also taking steps to ensure relatives, staff, and members of our wider community are supported to prioritise their mental health.

Find out how we are tackling the topic of mental health within our homes in our latest post: https://beritazcare.co.uk/news/article/how-we-support-mental-health-and-emotional-wellbeing

We encourage everyone to take some time today to check in on their own mental health and have a conversation with people in your life about mental wellbeing.
