Dementia Friendly Kent Awards to celebrate local heroes 🏆

We are pleased to announce the launch of the 2025 Dementia Friendly Kent Awards, where individuals and organisations in our community are recognised for their hard work in helping to make Kent and Medway a more dementia-friendly place.

Led by Kent Dementia Action Alliance and in collaboration with Kent County Council and our trust, the awards are a chance to celebrate those who go above and beyond to support those affected by dementia.

Dr Afifa Qazi, Chief Medical Officer at Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust said:

“Dementia touches the lives of around 24,000 people in Kent and Medway, and it can be incredibly difficult and isolating, not only for those living with the condition, but also for their families and carers. Recognition like this reminds us that progress doesn’t only happen in hospitals or council offices; it happens in everyday moments of kindness, connection and shared commitment to supporting those affected by dementia.”

If you know someone in our community who is deserving of an award in one of the following categories, nominations are open until 31 January 2026.

⭐Congratulations to Debbie Woodhouse, recipient of No Place Like Home’s 3rd Rising Star Award!

⭐This annual award, created in loving memory of two very dear former colleagues lost to cancer, celebrates individuals like Debbie who have embraced and are confidently delivering our No Place Like Home vision of a later life well lived.

⭐ Debbie brings a wealth of experience from her previous work at Age UK and, coupled with her No Place Like Home dementia learning and development, is going from strength to strength in her new Personal Assistant role. Debbie has become a very much valued colleague and has received some superb feedback from our clients on the difference she is making to their lives. A big thank you and well done to Debbie!

🏆We are delighted to announce the recipient of this year’s No Place Like Home Leslie Fenn Wellbeing Award.

🏆This annual award was inspired by our founder’s mother, Leslie, who went above and beyond to help other people.

🏆 Huge congratulations to our Office Administration Coordinator, Catherine Ochs who has been an enormous support to our whole team during the ups and downs of this past year. Catherine is usually the first person you will talk to if you telephone or visit our office and she has received consistently lovely feedback on the welcome that she gives to everyone.
