We are proud to be a NIMDTA ( Northern Ireland medical/ dental training agency) accredited practice which means we support qualified Doctors during their rotations and in specialty training to become GP’s

OUR patients and YOUR practice team are essential to this success and we wanted to share some positive news with you regarding two of our current cohort.

🩺 Dr Navchetan Singh has been successful in his years of speciality training to qualify as a GP . Many of you have already been a patient of Dr Singh so please share in our congratulations to him on this momentous occasion. Dr Singh will be working as a locum GP in the area and we will be delighted to continue working alongside him

🩺 Dr Lydia Byrne , who has been with us since September within her rotational training , has completed her quality improvement study on increasing our uptake of cervical smear examinations and was asked to present her initiative at the western federation conference yesterday where she received excellent feedback. Thank you to all the patients that responded to the questionnaires and visited the practice.

Without our patients full support these rising medics would not get the opportunities to flourish. Thank you ☺️

Our dedicated reception team respond to approximately 5,500 calls per month between 8:30 - 18:00 Monday to Friday. The majority of these calls occur between 8:30am and 10am.

It is important that we keep the lines open for emergencies , essential contact and same day appointments therefore we politely ask to you to review and share the following information.

🤒Telephone lines open at 08:30am for same day bookings (telephone or face to face)

🗓️If you do not need a same day appointment (e.g routine bloods or treatment room appointment etc) please call after 10am.

🆘 1-2pm is for emergencies only. At least one person monitors the telephone as we want to ensure our team to take a well deserved break from the telephones and to maintain safe working conditions for all.

🩸 If you require / asked to call back for results , please call after 2pm

💊If you want to order a repeat medication , please note we have stopped accepting these requests over the telephone (unless previously agreed) therefore you can sign up to online access , make a request via the website or drop the repeat slips into the practice letterboxes or at your local pharmacy.

🤕If you require medical attention after 6pm , the out of hours numbers are available if you call the practice number.

💉🦠Winter vaccinations

If you meet the eligibility this year you will be receiving a text, telephone call or email from us in the next few days to join us at our vaccination clinic on 13th 14th October.

If you have not received a text , yet meet the eligibility, and wish to have a vaccination please turn up to the dates provided

The winter flu and COVID-19 vaccination programmes will begin on 6 October 2025.

Vaccines provide the best defence against winter viruses.

People who are eligible for vaccination against flu or COVID-19 this year should make themselves aware of their own GP surgery’s or community pharmacist’s vaccination arrangements and work with them to get vaccinated.

Our GP Social Work Multidisciplinary Team in partnership with Derry GP Federation, Age Friendly, Derry City and Strabane District Council and Public Health Agency are delighted to organise a special Chat Tea Ball as part of Positive Ageing Month this October.

📆Thursday 23 October 2025

⏩Doors will open at 6.30pm | Entertainment 7pm to 10pm
🎤Hosted by local entertainer Mickey Doherty!

The overall aim is to provide an opportunity to bring people together through connection and engaging with other older people to target Social Isolation, Loneliness or limited connections. This is a ticket only event and is open to people aged 55+ from the city to meet new people.

Tickets can be purchased at the Northwest Transport Hub on 2nd October 2025 between 9.30-10.00am. Alternatively please contact your local GP Social Work Team to register your interest. Please advise of any dietary requirements when booking your place.
