Improving your range of motion after an arm lift (brachioplasty) takes patience and consistency 💪✨

It’s normal to feel tightness and stiffness in the early weeks — your body is healing. Once your surgeon clears you to move, gentle, controlled exercises can help reduce stiffness and support better mobility.

Focus on:
• Light shoulder rolls and arm raises
• Slow, pain-free stretching
• Good posture to avoid rounded shoulders
• Gradual progression — never force movement!

You should feel a mild stretch, not sharp pain. Healing tissue responds best to steady, gentle effort over time.
Swelling and tightness can last for weeks, sometimes months, but small daily movements make a big difference.

With this lady we’ve incorporated the above exercises along with scar massage by herself and scar therapy sessions. This is 2 weeks difference, yep you heard that right - 2 weeks!!

Recovery isn’t just about how your arms look — it’s about how they move and feel. 🤍

Working around obstacles is a natural job of an occupational therapist so combine OT with Lymphatic specialist and scar specialist and you’ve got the perfect mix!

Sometimes surgery doesn’t always go to plan, it can lead to infections or wound openings or many other complications which can slow down recovery. Thankfully lymphatic drainage generally boosts your healing as it gently reroutes lymph fluid around damaged areas toward healthy lymph nodes including improving circulation which in turn gives faster wound healings!

So if you are having some post op recovery complications, get in touch, MLD may be the part you are missing 🫶🏼

Please note I may need medical clearance from your medical team prior to completing MLD if there are complexities.

If you’ve had a mastectomy, it’s very common for the scar to feel tight in to the chest, tender, numb, itchy, or painful—even long after surgery. This is where scar therapy can help!

Scar therapy gently works with the scar and the tissue underneath to help it move more freely. When scars are tight or stuck, they can pull on nerves and surrounding tissue, causing discomfort and restricted movement. This can particularly extend in to your shoulder causing secondary problems.

💗 Scar therapy can help:
• Reduce pain and sensitivity
• Soften tight or raised scar tissue
• Improve chest, shoulder & arm movement
• Ease pulling, tightness & discomfort
• Help you feel more comfortable in your body

And it’s never too late—scar therapy can be helpful months or even years after a mastectomy.

You’re not being “fussy.” Your symptoms are real, and support is available. Healing doesn’t stop once the scar closes. And treatment doesn’t stop when your hospital appointments stop. Your new normal deserves the treatment.

I’m so excited to share that I’m completing Lipoedema Specialist Management Training, starting next month 🫶🏼

Lipoedema deserves knowledgeable, understanding, and evidence-based care — and I’m passionate about continuing to learn so I can better support those living with it.
With 10 years experience of working with Lipoedema it is so exciting that this course is now available for practitioners like myself! It is an important step in enhancing my knowledge in this area and becoming more specialised in this field, and I can’t wait to put this training into practice ✨
