WALX Coast and Country

WALX Coast and Country WALX Coast and Country run a variety of regular fun, social exercise sessions Including walks The activities are varied and we welcome everyone.

WALX Coast and Country run a regular programme of walks and other outdoor activities in the South East. WALX and More who cover the Chichester area have come together with WALX Coast and Country to allow us to run a much greater variety of sessions over a larger area. As one group we offer outdoor activity sessions on the beaches, in the countryside, including the South Downs and the wonderful woodland areas we have in the South East. Some of our members enjoy gentle exercise as they are managing health complications and at the other end of the scale we have people walking marathons. We are confident we can cater for your health and fitness needs. With WALX you can learn how to walk with Nordic Walking Poles but we also offer non pole walking sessions such as Explorer WALX, TBW (Total Body Workouts), YOGA WALX as well as Couch to 5k Running and Smovey Classes. Joining WALX also gives you access to over 2000 online exercises sessions per week, taught by our expert team. Sessions include total body workouts, Pilates, Yoga, HIT and aerobics.

We hope you had a good festive break and managed moments outdoors to keep your steps up over Christmas. With the December rush now over and welcoming 2026, it is time to think about what’s next…
We have mentioned new year resolutions and goal setting a few times, but sometimes this is hard to do in the winter when the body wants to recoup, relax, and hibernate, as we await Spring. January tends to feel colder and longer, so let’s consider something lighter.
Instead of planning out the year and setting goals which may seem big, why not try one of these options.
Option one: Remove something from 2025 that didn’t serve you. Something which didn’t bring anything positive or useful last year. You will notice the difference or even feel a little lighter. For example, leave that WhatsApp group, stop drinking, let go of any self-doubt. There are so many examples around habits, beliefs, anything which drains energy and needs boundaries set. If you imagine a snake shedding their skin, to grow, heal and not overstretch oneself. Be kind to yourself and enjoy the space mentally created and happiness it can bring.
Option two: Say ‘yes’ to more things, or even everything! To invite new opportunities into 2026. Agree to new adventures, social engagements, fun opportunities to create new experiences. It is good to get out of your comfort zone now and again, why not make 2026 the year of saying YES! It opens new doors and allows personal growth but be careful not to lead to overcommitment or burnout. Maybe once a month or even once is something manageable for you.
Why not even try both options to create space, which allows energy for new things. Let 2026 be your year.

Why not join WALX Coast and Country as something new to try? We are a friends group who welcome newbies. Possible sign up to the 6 week programme?

Hillbillies in the cold up on Highdown Hill this morning. The odd snow flurries were nice to see especially as it didn’t settle.

The conditions didn’t put them off and they all worked.

Lovely coffee at the Highdown

A winter wonderland at Dover Lane this morning. This is the perfect weather to dress up and get out for a walk.

If you are someone who would love to walk out in the countryside but have no one to go with, we are a very welcoming group.

All the leaders are trained and we risk assess our walks. The venues are planned and advertised in advance.

Our Story

We are an open air Health Club without walls. We enjoy getting fit and healthy by using Nordic Walking and other related activities in areas around the beautiful West Sussex country side and coastline. We are a social club who make the most of finishing our walks in cafes in which we have drink, a chat and a laugh.

Coast and Country Nordic Walking have a great team of walk leaders who simply love being outside and socialising with others.

The team deliver a variety of walks and fitness sessions catering for different abilities and experience. We have regular Well-Being sessions for self referred members who need a gentle session. We also have regular walks which range from an hours easy walk to more strenuous workout walks on the South Downs and other areas.

Coast and Country also offer classes such as Legs, Bums and Nordic Walking and HIT (High Intensity Training) workouts for a full body training session.
