💜Retirement💜

We would like to take a moment to appreciate Joyce and wish her well in her retirement. Joyce has been an asset to Supportive for over a decade. Her dedication, empathy, and unwavering support have made a lasting impact on all of us here at Supportive and touched the lives of many of our service users.

She has played an integral role in supporting young people into care, helping to lay the foundations of what makes a great Health Care Assistant. Joyce, you will always be welcome for that cup of coffee — please don’t be a stranger! 💜

✨ A Magical Day at Beamish ✨

Yesterday we partnered up with Official New College Durham and enjoyed a truly magical day filled with laughter and joy in the wonderful setting of —made even more special by its festive Christmas atmosphere.

This experience gave our service users the opportunity to share stories from the past, offering insightful moments that will help lay the foundations of care, empathy, and the power of communication for the students. In return, the students spoke about life today, how technology is evolving, and what they enjoy most about studying Health and Social Care.

We are incredibly fortunate to work so closely with New College Durham and to have developed such a strong, long-standing relationship. Together, we are helping to future-proof the staffing challenges faced within social care while giving young people in our communities the chance to enrich their learning journey.

Our Home Care Manager, Katie, said:
“We are very fortunate to be able plan and provide these days out for our service users. It’s also great way for the students to gain hands on experience and learn the basic skills required to carry out such a rewarding career looking after others.”

Out and about at New College Durham!

Over the last few weeks, members of our team visited Health and Social level 4 and 5 students at New College Durham to share their knowledge and experience across a range of important topics in Health and Social Care.

Jill talked all about Leadership and Management theories and how these apply in real working environments.
Rob delivered a session on Cancer and its impacts on the human body.
Katie discussed the Principles of Personal Development and why ongoing growth and reflection are so important in Health and Social Care.

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with future professionals, share real-world experiences and hopefully inspire the next generation in Health and Social Care!

A big thank you to New College Durham for welcoming our team and giving us the opportunity to share our insights with the next generation of professionals!

🎆🔥 Happy Bonfire Night from all of us at Supportive! 🔥🎆

As the skies light up tonight, we're reminding everyone- especially our valued clients and their families- to enjoy the celebrations safely. 💛

Our dedicated carers will be out as usual, providing support and companionship, and ensuring that those we care for feel safe and comforted amidst the bangs and sparkles of the evening. 👩‍⚕️🏡

Here are a few Bonfire Night safety tips:
✔️ Keep pets and vulnerable loved ones calm and indoors
✔️ Close windows and curtains to reduce noise
✔️ Avoid setting off fireworks near homes or care visits
✔️ Enjoy organised displays where possible—it’s safer and more spectacular!

Let’s keep our communities warm, safe, and cared for tonight. 💥
Stay safe, and have a sparkling Bonfire Night! ✨
