💕 Arts & Crafts Fun at Tenlands Care Home 💕

Our residents in Ferryhill enjoyed a lovely afternoon getting creative as they decorated beautiful love hearts. There was plenty of colour, lots of conversation and, of course, lots of smiles.

Activities like arts and crafts might look simple, but they play such an important role in daily life here at Tenlands. They help residents relax, encourage friendships and give everyone the chance to express themselves in their own unique way.

Creative sessions can spark memories, build confidence and provide a real sense of achievement when a project is finished. Most importantly, they bring people together.

At Tenlands, we believe meaningful activities are part of great care — supporting wellbeing, connection and a real sense of belonging. 💚

❤️ Valentine’s Day at Tenlands Care Home ❤️

We were delighted to welcome Musical Memories to our Ferryhill home as part of our Valentine’s Day celebrations.

The afternoon was filled with familiar love songs, gentle singalongs and the kind of shared moments that only music can create. Residents joined in, reminisced and, as always, the stories behind the songs were just as special as the music itself.

In a care setting, sessions like this are about far more than entertainment. Music supports memory, encourages social interaction and helps residents reconnect with important moments from their lives. It creates a sense of belonging and shared experience — something that is invaluable in later life.

Thank you to Musical Memories for helping us create such a warm, joyful and meaningful afternoon for our residents. 💚

🎄✨ Christmas at Tenlands – Where the Magic Really Happens ✨🎄

The run-up to Christmas at Tenlands Care Home was filled with laughter, kindness and moments our residents will be talking about for a long time to come — and that’s exactly how we like it.

From getting gloriously messy decorating gingerbread men and a gingerbread house, to sharing sweet treats, big smiles and lots of creativity, the joy was infectious. Sticky fingers, happy faces and plenty of laughter proved that the best memories are made when people come together.

Music brought its own special magic too. On 19th December, Michaela from Musical Memories filled the home with festive songs, sparking smiles, memories and moments of togetherness that residents and staff truly cherished.

Community kindness shone brightly on 21st December, when the Ferryhill Town Youth U16 Strikers visited with sweets, biscuits and bright smiles — lifting spirits and reminding everyone that the true spirit of Christmas is found in generosity and shared time.

Then came cosy moments with hot chocolate, marshmallows and cream, laughter bubbling up with every sip — a simple but deeply comforting reminder that it’s often the quiet moments that mean the most.

And of course… 🎭 OH YES IT WAS!
On 22nd December, Tenlands was transformed by a hilarious pantomime performance of “A Christmas Carole” by NorthEast Producers. With personal jokes, name-checks and plenty of playful mischief, the room was filled with laughter as residents, staff, and visitors laughed together like one big family. It was festive, funny and full of heart — exactly what Christmas at Tenlands should feel like. ❤️

At Tenlands Care Home, Christmas isn’t just a day — it’s a season of connection, joy and shared experiences. Life here is active, social and full of moments that matter.

❄️ A Snowy Morning at Tenlands! ❄️
Winter made quite an entrance in Ferryhill yesterday as Tenlands Care Home woke up to a blanket of snow.
Our amazing Home Manager, Administrator and Head of Housekeeping were straight outside—wrapped up, gritting the car park and making sure residents, staff, and visitors could move around safely.
Their teamwork turned a frosty morning into a smooth, safe start to the day.
At Tenlands, care doesn’t just happen inside the home… it happens in every thoughtful action. 💙

💛 A Moment of Connection at Tenlands 💛
This week brought a truly touching moment in our dementia wellbeing session.
When one of our residents was handed a therapy doll, she instinctively drew it close — gently rocking it, humming softly and holding it with such natural warmth. It was a quiet moment, but one that said so much.

Dementia can make the world feel unfamiliar, yet therapies like this help unlock memories, comfort and emotional connection. For this resident, it brought calm, confidence and a peaceful smile that lit up her whole face.

These are the moments that remind us why meaningful activity is so important — and why supporting residents to feel safe, loved and connected will always be at the heart of what we do.

🌟 Rose’s Morning of Helping Hands at Tenlands Care Home 🌟
Here at Tenlands Care Home in Ferryhill, we love seeing our residents take part in meaningful moments that make them feel included, valued, and full of purpose. This week, our wonderful resident Rose decided the housekeeping team could use her “expert assistance” — and her enthusiasm absolutely made our day!

With great confidence, Rose picked up a sweeping brush and a cleaning cloth, ready to take charge of what she treated as a very important operation. She swept the corridor with remarkable energy — sometimes in circles, sometimes with dramatic sweeping gestures — but always with determination and pride.

After moving on to surface cleaning, Rose inspected each table with a serious expression before giving an approving nod, as though completing a top-level audit. The housekeeping team shared how Rose’s humour, upbeat attitude, and unique cleaning techniques lifted spirits throughout the home.

She finished her “shift” by announcing she was “more than happy to help anytime,” leaving everyone smiling — and the corridor noticeably tidier!

Moments like this show how person-centred, meaningful engagement can make a real difference to someone’s day.

🎉 A Wonderful 89th Birthday Celebration at Tenlands Care Home 🎉
Yesterday, 13th November 2025, we were delighted to celebrate a truly special milestone here at Tenlands Care Home in Ferryhill — Pat’s 89th birthday! 💛🎂

Pat’s daughter surprised her with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, and our talented kitchen team created a delicious, personalised birthday cake just for her. The whole home joined together to sing “Happy Birthday,” filling the room with smiles, laughter, and joy as Pat proudly blew out her candles.

Moments like these remind us why Tenlands is such a warm and welcoming place to live. Our residents are at the heart of everything we do, and we love celebrating these precious occasions together.
