I don't know about you but January felt so long and colourless with it's
grey skies, rainy days & everything feeling a bit muted.
For me it's not been an easy month & I've felt its toll on my own mental health.
And sometimes, even when we’re feeling low, we still show up smiling.
We keep going.
We mask it, because it feels easier than explaining or because we don’t want to be a burden.
But feeling a bit flat at this time of year doesn’t mean you’re failing.
It means you’re human.
Winter asks a lot of us.
So if you’re also quietly carrying that heaviness right now, please know you’re not alone.
You don’t have to be positive.
You don’t have to have it all together.
Rest, softness and honesty count as strength too.
Be kind to yourself this February. 💙

February is finally upon us.
January has been and gone and Good Riddance as it certainly threw a few curveballs in my direction.

So I'm still taking it easy into February. I need to help lower my cortisol levels and regulate my nervous system again.

And there are lots of energies around at the moment. We've just had Leo's Full moon 'The snow moon', and Imbolc plus we're still shedding The year of the snake in readiness for The year of the Horse galloping in for the Chinese New year on the 17th of February too.
So if like me you're not quite ready to go leaping ahead that's okay too. Just take it step by step, day by day and be kind to yourself... always 💕

The little greengrocers in Bondville belongs to Pete. He opened it in the 90’s not long after Bondville was built, he lives in the flat above and absolutely loves it.

Familiar faces. Friendly chats. It’s a place built on heart, not profit. He’s a small business owner who loves what they’ve built. Early mornings. Honest work. His loyal customers, he loves it all!
It was never about getting rich — just about earning a living doing something he cared deeply about.

But behind the scenes, the sums have become harder.
Rising bills. Rising costs. Business rates. Utilities. Wages.
Month after month of trying to make it work. He rarely makes minim wage. He put a slight uplift on his prices, but people complained and said they could buy cheaper online or at the supermarket, some even left negative comments on social media. He sourced everything locally, it was organic but he just couldn’t make it work. Everything felt different, he was exhausted and he was sad 😔

In the end, he has had to make the decision no one ever wants to make. He has no choice but to close.

The door closed. The lights went off.
A dream quietly packed away.

I don't know about you but I'm over January already. The dull cold weather, the greyness, the dark nights. It all feels rather flat and that includes the bank balance. Payday feels like a fantasy and those New year resolutions have already given up the ghost.

So for me, I'm hanging in there. Taking one day at a time, lowering all my expectations, wrapping myself up in blankets and soothing with warm drinks.
In the meantime, I'm noticing the little glimmers. It's slightly lighter on a morning and evening, there are spring bulbs peeking out of the ground. I'm enjoying the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. And I'm trying to see bits of joy in every day.
