Non Kombucha related rant...

My feelings towards AI may be something that seems silly to be posting on a Kombucha platform but my feelings towards it are getting increasingly strong that I feel it is worthwhile to use this platform to express concern in the small hope that some people may resonate.

It blows me away to keep seeing how casually AI is being used in todays world. For literally everything and (mostly) without thought of the impact it is having on some communities reality today and certainly our reality to come.

The list of reasons to not go near it just keeps getting longer for me. First it was, but what about our own minds that we have used up until this point?? Then, look at the extreme damage it is causing to communities that have no choice over the infostructure being put in place plus the environmental chaos it is encouraging as a result. Plus, what kind of future are we creating - yes using it is literally creating this - by putting all of our personal information, through asking constant questions, using it as a therapist, allowing it to access SO much of the human mind that we are literally training it.

I do not believe it to be innately a bad thing but the speed at which it is growing and the casual nature in which it is being used by - what seems like - everyone, is terrifying. We are feeding into yet another system that takes away our need for human connection and something that is SO addictive that most people I challenge on this subject cannot imagine how they would do life without it now - already!!

Below is the best podcast I have listened to so far on the subject. Coming from a well researched, credible opinion and which covers many of the corners of AI.

Do what you please, but there is lots of information out there displaying very clearly how detrimental this system is that is being shaped around us.

Introducing............

Holy mither I cannot explain how CHUFFED I am to finally see this product heading oot the door. It has been a wee product of passion and experimentation for many many months.

Caledonian Ken-Chi. A huge thanks to Jake & Eian for the name creation. It's (kind of) like kimchi but instead made with more Scottish veg; turnips, carrots, cabbage & onion blended with chilli & ginger to make a fermented explosion of yum in your mouth - ken yersel.

I am producing this on a seriously small scale so will only be distributing it to a wee handful of shops. First and foremost to my sisters cafe in Cullen, . If you have not been yet, get your butt over there! It is very worth the trip.

This will be arriving on Thursday afternoon. And will soon be coming to more local stockists too.
**Please, please return your jar, lid & label**

Yipeeeee. Fermented veggies, here we goooooooooo.

Times are tough...

I am pretty sure I post this image every year around this time. Always with a wee thread of negativity, sorry.

The new financial year, here we go. Yet another opportunity to give small businesses a slap in the face with increased costs coming from all angles. A slap that in some cases is so extreme that many doors are closing. But only of the wee businesses, of course.

When I say times are tough, I involve everyone in that. But what always happens at these times, is the big businesses are able to put forward tempting deals and offers which us wee ones simply cannot afford to give. So the small businesses fall from the importance list.

A world in which we get all our stuff and things from only the big ones with their large pockets and all round easier run of it, is nae a nice world in my mind. So please, where ever and whenever you are able, please support us wee ones as we need you the most!

Yes, you should feel really bad.

Riddled with guilt in fact. Every time you put a Gut Feelings bottle or jar in the bin. What an unnecessary waste.

We are committed to keeping our process as low waste as possible which is why we have in place a very efficient bottle return scheme. You can return ANY empty bottle or jar of ours to any location which sells it and they will return it to us.

Some places offer a cheeky discount of 25p off of your next full bottle. Other places you are simply returning it with no payback. But surely the payment of knowing you are a sound individual taking steps to reduce waste is payment enough...

Thank you to those who put the effort into doing this. And for those that put our bottles in the bin even with all this in place...I have big feelings towards it honestly, and not good ones.

Go forth and be sound.

My words of the year.

For those who have followed my very wordy posts over the years, you will know that I always label each year with a word or two which I can refer back to in the hope of keeping on track.

Last years words were consistency & diversify. The consistency element was a BIG tick in terms of our Kombucha process but a definite cross in terms of the food hub. However, we made up for that lack by giving a BIG tick for diversification as so many new creations were developed within this space in 2025 that can carry through into this year.

2026 is the year of commitment and finally having some trust in the business I have created.

Those of you who know me well will know that I have been consistently juggling around 5 different jobs for the entirety of the Gut Feelings journey. Any small business owner will know that it takes A LOT to rely solely on your growing business and I have always preferred to keep investing in Gut Feelings and growing a stable team than pay myself a wage.

But this year comes change. I have stepped away from all other work that is non Kombucha, fermentation or gut health related. This is the year of Gut Feelings. A year to (finally) commit to this business, trust in what has been created and hope that it can sustain my life too.

7 years of business...fingers crossed.

If you ken, you ken...

What sits within this very little bowl has been one of the main things within my focus these last 6 months or so. The development of a new product and a different take on a ferment that folks are growing to know and love in this country.

I am getting EXTREMELY close to being able to announce its arrival on local fridge shelves. And I am very very very excited to be able to do so.

But for now, I leave you with tempting thoughts of what on earth I am on about. Think spicy, but also quite Scottish, whilst simultaneously tickling your tastebuds in a way that the predominant vegetable has likely never tickled your mouth before.

Yum yum, ken yersel.

Fermented Food Hub, update...

The food hub was always going to be a bit experimental to figure out what the space was meant for. Unfortunately, serving food from this space is not working out currently for a few different reasons.

However, I have a real strong drive for the fermented vegetables and the aim is to begin selling them further afield in 2026. We do also have a new product in the making, aiming for a January release.

The character of this space may change with time as I begin growing my own vegetables but as it stands the food offerings are not working out time/popularity wise. Thank you to everyone who has supported it so far.
