Cats aren’t always obvious when something’s wrong, which is why love looks a little different for them 💕

As we head into Valentine’s week, here are 3 simple ways to show your cat some extra love today:
🐱 Check their teeth and gums, bad breath isn’t just ‘a cat thing’
🐱 Notice changes in eating, hiding, or litter habits
🐱 Give them a gentle head to tail feel for any new lumps or sore spots

If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts, early checks make all the difference.

5 quick things to check on your pet this weekend 🐶

• Eyes: Should be bright and clear, with no redness or discharge
• Ears: Look for redness, bad odour, or excessive scratching
• Teeth and gums: Bad breath, tartar build up, or red gums can indicate dental disease
• Skin and coat: Check for lumps, scabs, hair loss, or signs of itching
• Energy and appetite: Changes in eating, drinking, or behaviour can be early warning signs

Regular at home checks help catch problems early. If you notice anything unusual, our team is here to help.

Happy National Hedgehog Day! 🦔

Small, spiky, and secretly very sweet, hedgehogs are one of our favourite garden visitors. If you’re lucky enough to spot a hedgehog, here’s how to be a good neighbour:

• If it’s daytime, injured, or seems unwell, contact a local rescue or your vet
• Leave out fresh water (not milk!)
• Avoid slug pellets, they’re toxic to hedgehogs
• Create small gaps in fences so they can roam safely

Let’s help protect these prickly pals!

Regular nail trimming isn’t just cosmetic,it’s an essential part of your dog’s health 🐾

Overgrown nails can cause pain, alter posture, and lead to joint strain or injury over time. Keeping nails at the correct length helps your dog move comfortably, maintain proper balance, and avoid unnecessary stress on their feet and legs.

A little routine care goes a long way in keeping your dog happy, healthy, and pain-free. 🐶

Winter can be tough on horses and farm animals and some issues are easy to miss this time of year ❄️

A few winter reminders we’re sharing with our farm clients:
• Check water sources daily (dehydration is common in cold weather)
• Monitor weight. Thick coats can hide weight loss
• Keep an eye on feet and mud-related conditions
• Watch for stiffness or reduced movement in colder temperatures

If something feels “slightly off,” it’s always worth checking early. 🐴 🐮 🐑

🐿️ It’s Squirrel Appreciation Day!

Love them or laugh at them, squirrels play a big role in our ecosystem. These busy little foragers help plant thousands of trees by burying nuts and (oops) forgetting where they put them!

Vet tip for pet parents:
While squirrels are fascinating to watch, chasing them can lead to injuries or exposure to parasites for dogs and cats. Keep pets supervised outdoors and up to date on parasite prevention.

So today, take a moment to appreciate the squirrels from a safe distance and enjoy their acorn-hoarding antics! 🐾

A healthy weight means more energy, less pain, and more happy years together. If you’re unsure about your pet’s weight, our team is here to help, head to our website to book an appointment 🐶
