It’s Pet Diabetes awareness month!

Diabetes is more common in pets than many people realise and early detection makes a huge difference.
Here are the signs to watch for:

🔸 Increased thirst
🔸 Frequent urination
🔸 Increased appetite but weight loss
🔸 Low energy / lethargy
🔸 Cloudy eyes (dogs)
🔸 Dull coat or skin changes
🔸 Vomiting or generally feeling unwell

If you’ve noticed any of these symptoms, it’s always best to get your pet checked. Diabetes is very manageable with early diagnosis and the right care. ❤️

Fleas, ticks, and worms can sneak up on your pet in ways you might not expect. These tiny invaders don’t just cause itchiness, they can spread disease and make your furry friend seriously sick.

Here are 3 signs your pet might have parasites:
1️⃣ Scooting or dragging their bottom, a classic sign of intestinal worms.
2️⃣ Dull coat or weight loss, parasites steal nutrients, leaving your pet looking tired and thin.
3️⃣ Frequent itching or licking, fleas or mites might be hiding in their fur.

Keep your pet on year-round parasite prevention even if they’re indoors. Sign up to our Premier Pet Care Plan and receive a monthly package suitable for your pet!

The season is gathering itself like a snow globe that’s just been shaken, which means homes are filling with glittery temptations for curious paws. A few gentle reminders as we glide toward Christmas:

• Tinsel can behave like stringy trouble in a pet’s stomach. Keep it higher than any determined whiskers.
• Chocolate and festive sweets quietly pretend to be harmless. They are not. Store them where no four-legged detective can reach.
• Christmas lilies, holly and mistletoe carry a secret sting for pets. Choose safe greenery instead.
• Visitors and deliveries can turn calm routines into whirlwinds. Create a quiet retreat space for nervous animals.

A little preparation now keeps the season peaceful for every creature under the fairy lights. ✨🐾

November is Pet Cancer Awareness Month…
Cancer is one of the leading health challenges we see in our patients but early detection truly makes a difference.

This month, we’re encouraging all pet owners to stay alert to subtle changes and keep up with regular check-ups.

Common early signs to watch for:
• New lumps or bumps
• Changes in appetite or weight
• Persistent lameness
• Unexplained lethargy
• Non-healing sores or skin changes
• Behavioral changes that “just aren’t them”

If you notice something concerning, don’t wait. A quick exam can provide answers and offer peace of mind.

Happy Bonfire night!

While we love the sparkle and celebration, remember that fireworks can be frightening for our furry (and feathered!) friends.

Here are a few simple ways to help keep your pets calm and safe tonight:
- Keep pets indoors before fireworks start, and close windows and curtains.
- Play calming music or TV to help muffle loud noises.
- Create a cozy den with their bed, toys, and familiar scents.
- Stay calm yourself, pets take cues from your behavior.
- Make sure microchips and ID tags are up to date, just in case they get spooked.

Enjoy and stay safe! 🎆

Winter’s is here, is your furry friend ready? Here are 5 quick tips to keep pets safe, comfortable and healthy as the colder weather sets in:

Keep them warm: ensure their sleeping spot is cosy and draft free.
Watch their diet: less activity might mean fewer calories needed.
Paw protection: salt, ice and grit can irritate pads, check regularly and rinse after walks.
Hydration still matters: pets drink less when it’s cold, make sure clean water is always available.
Check for changes: winter can mask symptoms of issues (e.g., stiff joints in older pets) if you have any concerns, book an appointment!

Friday’s here but so is the stormy weather!
As the wind and rain roll in, keep your furry friends safe and cosy this weekend. 🐶🐱

Here are a few quick vet-approved tips:
Keep walks short and safe – Avoid strong winds and slippery spots.
Dry off well – Towel dry coats and paws to prevent chills or skin irritation.
Secure outdoor areas – Check fences, gates, and loose items that could blow over.
Provide comfort indoors – Create a warm, quiet spot if thunder or wind noise scares them.

Stay snug and enjoy those extra cuddles this weekend! 💛
