Cakes 4 Kindness 🩡

Yesterday Rene & Sue, two of our residents that attend the weekly cooking club, accompanied by Viv who runs the weekly Wooden Spoon group, delivered a very yummy sticky ginger cake to the wonderful volunteers at our local Phyllis Tuckwell charity shop in Fleet 🍰

Phyllis Tuckwell provides supportive and end of life care for adult patients and families affected by cancer or other serious progressive illnesses (such as heart, lung or neurological disease) in West Surrey and North East Hampshire, an area of 550,000 residents 🩡

As a home we have done many fund raising events for them and will continue to support them in the future 🩡

General Manager Louise and Clinical Liaison Manager Melody joined us to give the volunteers some lovely Avery goody bags with our thanks for all they do in our local community ❀️

Yesterday some of the residents visited the Aldershot Military Museum, this was a great end to our Remembrance Day celebrations. We thank all the service personnel who served and continue to serve our country πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ and to all the service personnel who visit our community to give talks and share there experiences.

Thanks to the knitting group for the wonderful wreath they made and is proudly laid at the cenotaph, for the decorations and displays within the home 🏑 and for us all joining together this year to observe our 2 minutes silence outside and lay our wreath

We will remember πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

What a wonderful informative evening about the history of the poppy factory 🏭 for the residents at Fleet Hall

Tonight we welcomed Major Tracey Doree to give us a wonderful presentation about how the poppy factory was created and how important the industry has been and still is today 🏭

The charity was founded in 1922 by Major George Howson MC, a British Army officer who was awarded the Military Cross in 1917. George Howson’s vision was to provide employment for veterans injured during the First World War.

Over 20 residents filled the Activities Room, to listen to the stories of the veterans and injured soldiers who have been so dedicated for over 100 years to the service 🏭

Cake 4 Kindness 🩡

Our residents and staff at really enjoyed coming together to make a yummy sticky cake πŸŽ‚ to deliver to our local Phyllis Tuckwell Charity Shop, there was lots of fun and laughter as the cooking club residents enjoyed some of the carers and families joining them for such a lovely event 🩡

The Phyllis Tuckwell Charity have been very close to our hearts over the years and we have raised lots of vital funds for them, they were a very easy choice for us to make and we look forward to delivering it to them πŸŽ‚

We are so incredibly proud of our wonderful poppy display outside the home 🏑
We have been very busy crocheting and knitting 🧢 poppies for the last 6 months and the ladies including residents, families and friends have produced over 200 different colours to display!

Many passers by have commented on the colours and quality of the poppies and have stopped for a chat with the ladies about their work. Thank you to Tracey for sourcing the army nets for us and to Debbie for organising the knitting 🧢 group every week, also thank you for the endless donations of wool from families and the local community 🧢
