October is Breast Cancer Awareness month 🎀

Key symptoms of breast cancer include a new lump in the breast or armpit, changes in the size or shape of the breast, skin changes like dimpling or redness, and ni**le changes such as inversion, discharge, or rash.
Pain is a less common symptom but should be checked if it doesn't go away. It's crucial to see a doctor for any new or unusual changes, even though most lumps are benign, as early diagnosis significantly improves treatment success

Stoptober is back, calling on smokers in England to join more than 2.5 million others who have made a quit attempt with the campaign since it launched a decade ago in 2012. Nearly 6 million adults in England still smoke, and it remains the single biggest behavioural cause of preventable death, with 64,000 deaths a year.

This year’s Stoptober mass quit attempt is as important as ever, with quitting being one of the best things a smoker can do for their health. That’s why this year’s Stoptober campaign is encouraging smokers to join the thousands of others who are giving quitting a go for the month of October – making it to 28 days smoke free means you’re five times as likely to quit for good. Quitting will allow you to start moving better, breathe more easily – and give you more money to spend.

Quitting with others, together with the range of support offered, means that Stoptober can trigger resolve and boost confidence, motivation and readiness, making smokers realise that they are stronger and better prepared than they think and setting them up for long term success.

Stoptober offers a range of free quitting tools including: the NHS Quit Smoking app, Stoptober Facebook online communities, daily emails and SMS, and an online Personal Quit Plan tool. It provides information and advice on proven quitting methods – expert support from local Stop Smoking Services and the range of stop smoking aids, including further information on how va**ng can help you quit. Just search ‘Stoptober’ for more information.

Dear MVP Patients,

Today 1st of October 2025, contractually, our online triage system KLINIK will be live for routine, non-urgent appointment requests, medication queries, and administrative tasks during our opening hours of Monday to Friday 0800 - 1830.

You will be able to log on to KLINIK via our website https://www.mountviewpractice.nhs.uk/ and follow the link to contact us online, or alternatively, you can either call our main telephone number 01253 204712 or come to the front desk and one of our reception team will complete the form on your behalf.

All routine requests will be triaged by our Clinical Team within 3 working days. We will then make sure you are informed of the outcome of your request and if required, an appointment arranged for a future date, either in one our own clinics, or by signposting you to a trusted local provider.

Please remember this is for all routine requests only.

Our same day and home visit requests will be open from 0800 each morning until we reach capacity each working day. Once we are at capacity, we will turn off the function to be able to request same day appointments and home visits.

Once we are at capacity, if you submit a routine request that is urgent in nature, you will be notified to contact NHS 111 or Pharmacy First. Submitting a routine request with an urgent ask will not enable you to bypass the system.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Team MVP
