Concepted by childbirth educator Theresa Erichsen, RN, BSN, LCCE, FACCE, IBCLC, and designed to present a foetus in a simple, non-threatening manner, this set of nine weighted, pillowlike models represents the average size and weight of a foetus at nine stages of development. The back of each model features information on the developmental stage of the foetus illustrated on the front. Models provide an opportunity for mothers-to-be to visualise the foetus growing within them, highlighting the importance of antenatal care. Models represent weights ranging from 0.4 g to 3.18 kg. Set of nine models comes with presentation notes with applications for use with teen mothers and adult couples.

A fabric womb made by Angélique du Coudray, a French midwife who was commissioned by King Louis XV to reduce infant mortality. From 1760 to 1783, she travelled all over France, visiting poor rural women and sharing her extensive knowledge with them.

It is estimated that she trained some 10,000 women.

Du Coudray also invented the first lifesize obstetrical mannequin, for practicing mock births, and published a well-received midwifery textbook

A unique, 3-D teaching tool, this model is perfect for performing Leopold’s manoeuvres and for demonstrating palpation of the abdomen to determine foetal lie, presentation, and position. The model includes a foetus with movable arms and legs, firm buttocks, and a head with palpable anterior and posterior fontanelles. The foetal body flexes to allow demonstration of all presentations and positions. The foetus and included vinyl pelvis rest within the abdominal portion of the model. The abdomen, a padded cloth attached by Velcro to the base, makes it easy to visualise and change foetal positions. Also features a practice guide with detailed suggestions on how to use the model.
