Following consultant appointments, it’s now been recommended that Allan undergo surgery to pin his fractured clavicle due to the level of displacement. Surgery is booked - but recovery doesn’t stop in the meantime.
Now around 10 days post-injury, Allan is starting to regain some movement. While it’s still sore and achy, maintaining safe range of motion before surgery is crucial.
Why?
✔️ To reduce muscle wasting
✔️ To maintain mobility where possible
✔️ To support a smoother recovery after surgery
There’s no heavy resistance going through the arm, but gentle use of the hand and lower arm is encouraged where safe - with plenty of rest in the sling in between.
Injuries like this are frustrating, but understanding the process and respecting the stages of healing makes a huge difference in long-term outcomes.
We’ll continue to share updates as Allan moves into surgery and then through the full recovery phase.
