We have had a wonderfully busy day here today :) Lisa is back from her holiday in Portugal and had a long list of clients to get through this morning. She told the residents all about her holiday while she did their hair, not that it made us jealous or anything :) This afternoon, Jade came to sing for us and put on a 'Wartime show'. The residents loved it, they sang along to most of the songs, and all commented just how wonderful Jade looked in her uniform! They all sat chatting once she had left, commenting on the show and her performance. We have had lots of visitors throughout the day. June S went to her hairdresser's with her daughter, Pam's son came to visit her this afternoon, Maureen's sister and her husband visited this afternoon and they joined us to listen to Jade sing. Imelda had a friend visit and they chatted in her room. June's C's daughter came to see her and Joy's son popped in too with his dog this afternoon.

Another busy day here today at Brampton Lodge. We started the day by all gathering in the lounge this morning to watch the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance with some scrummy cakes and a drink. The residents all loved watching the Festival and were very impressed with the music and information throughout. Once this had finished, the residents remained in the lounge chatting until lunch time. Afterwards, some residents had their nails done, David and Pat just wanted a file and reshape, and Yvonne had a repaint while we waited for Victoria to come and sing for us. When Victoria arrived, dressed for the occasion with Poppy's in her hair and a beautiful red dress, the lounge quickly filled up again. Victoria put on a wonderful show as always

Michelle very kindly made the residents some Poppy cupcakes. They are vanilla sponge with jam and buttercream topped with icing and a rice paper poppy. They enjoyed them this morning with their teas and coffees just before we had our 2 minutes silence and watched a Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance.

We have had a wonderful start to our week :) Yvonne and Marion went to Morrisons, they had either a cake or a bacon bap with a coffee and then did some shopping. While they were out, Nigel was here for one of his talks. Today it was about Great British Comedians and everyone said they really enjoyed it. We had a full lounge of residents! We have had lots of guests throughout the day. Someone came to visit both Gloria and Pam R, Janet's daughter visited this morning, Maureen had her son and daughter in-law pop in this afternoon and Joy's daughter came to see her and Marion has had a friend visit her this afternoon. This afternoon, Kerry came in for an art class. Today's picture was a mountain scene, which reminded us of the sound of music so we listened to the soundtrack while we painted :)

We are all decorated for remembrance now. Inside and out. There are poppies everywhere!! Although the weather was a bit murky, there’s been loads going on. Tony has been out for a walk twice today. Barbara was taken out for lunch by her daughter and son-in-law. Pam B was taken out for lunch by her sister Molly. Pam R had her hairdresser come in to do her hair, and her son arrived to see her at the same time. Also, our birthday girl Elizabeth had a visit from her daughter Nikki. This afternoon we had our usual quiz, and the residents did great. They are all very good at answering the quiz questions. They are so clever.

We have had a lovely day here at Brampton Lodge. Lisa is away on her holidays, so we started the morning with some one-to-ones. Barbera had a visit from her son and daughter. Toby went out for lunch with a friend who came down from London. Marion had a visit from her cousin, and David had his family here too. The residents all gathered just before midday for a glass of sherry or a juice, and our guests joined us who were here for our community lunch also. Today was liver & bacon or beef burgers on the menu, which all went down very well. After lunch, we had a practice fire drill, which went smoothly. Just in time for Ray to arrive and sing for us for the afternoon. We had a full lounge again today and even had guests sitting in the second lounge!

There was so much going on today at Brampton. We started the day with communion. There were lots of attendees, and lots of hymns being sung. After pre lunch drinks and dinner, we had a good go at beating our word game score… with success. We did so well and we were all over the moon. We beat the previous high score of 288 and scored 304.
The highlight of our day was our firework celebrations. Michelle and Sophie were busy in the kitchen this afternoon making a delicious chilli for our residents, which was served with jacket potatoes. There was also beans and cheese, and tomato soup. We all tucked in. Michelle was busy baking last night and brought in toffee cake for dessert. It was so morish. One slice is not enough!! The fireworks were beautiful and there were lots of Ooo’s and ahh’s as they lit up the sky. Everyone had a really good day

This morning we were busy doing something top secret for our residents. You will find out more about this later on. Yvonne went out for a trip in her new chariot (wheelchair) to the leas with her daughter and son in law. This afternoon we have been busy making poppies to decorate the inside and outside of Brampton Lodge. We have had a lovely time chatting and giggling among ourselves whilst cutting and sticking.

Monday started with a trip to Morrisons. We had Barbara come with us today, which was such a treat. Barbara rarely comes out so we were really pleased she came. Barbara chose a fruit scone with jam and cream, washed down with a cup of tea. David came too and he had chocolate brownie and a cup of tea. We did a bit of shopping when we had finished in the cafe. We made it back to Brampton just in time for lunch. This afternoon we had a pamper afternoon and we had a few residents come along to have their nails done. Michelle also made a toffee cake for the residents to try today. It was (as usual) absolutely delicious. Thank you Michelle.

Here goes what our busy Saturday and Brampton consisted of. We had lots of family members visit today. Pam B had her sister Molly take her for a ride in the car. June C had her daughter visit. Denise came in to visit her mum Joy, and Pat G had a visit from her daughter and granddaughter. We also had a go at beating our word game score but only managed to get 225 words. That 288 is still unbeaten. Tony went for a walk along The Leas early this morning, and he later sat chatting in the garden with Peggy before lunch. Michael also sat in the garden this morning. It was a bit fresh, but the sun was peaking through.
This afternoon June S had a visit from her granddaughter and great grandchildren. They spent the afternoon chatting in Junes room. Pam R had a visit from Dyane’s French relative Mel, and Pam spent the afternoon chatting away in French to Mel. Pam had a great afternoon and really enjoyed ‘Parler en Francais’. In the lounge I read to the residents a book called ‘The autumn story’ which has been sitting in our lounge for sometime. The residents enjoyed the short story. We finished off the afternoon with a little quiz. Everyone was happy today.
