Roses are red, violets are blue, but are you seeing them as clearly as you should? 🌹👀

This Valentine’s Day, while you’re busy showing love to everyone else, don’t forget the pair that lets you see the beauty in the world. Whether you're staring at a candlelit dinner or a Netflix marathon, your eyes deserve some TLC too.

Give Your Eyes Some Heart:

The 20-20-20 Rule: If you’re swooning over digital content, every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. It’s like a mini-spa break for your eye muscles.

Date Night Shades: Rock those sunglasses! Even in February, UV rays can be heartbreakers for your retina.

Screen Romance: Lower the brightness and up the warmth on your devices to reduce blue light strain before bed.

Check the Sparkle: If things are looking a little blurry, it might be time for an eye exam. Think of it as a wellness check for your windows to the soul.

Pro-Tip: Treat your eyes like a first date—don't ignore them when they're tired, and definitely don't poke them!

Happy Valentine's Day! Keep those peepers protected and your vision clear. ❤️

Concerned about your vision or noticed a change in your sight? Don't leave it to chance! Give your eyes the expert care they deserve.

It's here again at Folkestone Eye Centre. As February is AMD awareness month, we thought we would share a wonderful review from one of our AMD patients.

February is Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) Awareness Month 👁️💛

AMD is one of the leading causes of vision loss in adults over 50, and early stages often have no noticeable symptoms. Blurry or wavy central vision, trouble reading, or difficulty recognising faces can be warning signs as it progresses.

Early detection = more options.

Regular dilated eye exams can help catch AMD sooner and protect your long-term vision.

Ways to take action this month:

✔️ Schedule a comprehensive eye exam
✔️ Learn your family history of eye disease
✔️ Eat leafy greens and omega-3 rich foods
✔️ Wear UV-protective sunglasses outdoors
✔️ Don’t ignore changes in your vision

For people with certain stages of AMD, doctors may recommend AREDS 2–based eye vitamins, a specific formula shown in research to help slow progression in some cases. Always talk with an eye care professional before starting supplements.

Help spread awareness. Share this post — someone you care about could protect their sight because of it. 💛👁️

🤗 National Hugging Day – 21st January 🤗

Did you know that a simple hug can be good for your eyes too? 💙

Hugs help reduce stress and lower cortisol levels, which can ease eye strain, dryness, and tension caused by busy, screen-filled days. When we feel relaxed and supported, our whole body benefits – including our eyes! 👀✨

This National Hugging Day, take a moment to share a hug with someone you care about. It’s good for the heart, great for the mind, and surprisingly kind to your eyes.

💗 Give a hug. Spread the love. Care for your eyes. 💗
