Anybody can be affected by an eating disorder. According to the charity BEAT, in the UK, 1 in 50 people are affected. The sooner someone is treated for an eating disorder the better .

This annual campaign aims to raise awareness of the disorder and where to get help and support. If you, or somebody you know are affected, you should contact a GP as soon as you can for support and possible referral.

International epilepsy day is held on the second Monday in February every year. Epilepsy affects people of all ages and displays as symptoms such as jerking, absences, becoming stiff, strange sensations and collapsing. It is estimated that the condition affects over 50 million people worldwide.

Do you know when to call for an ambulance?

If you know somebody and it is the first time it's happened.
It lasts longer than is usual for them, or longer than 5 minutes.
They do not recover as usual afterwards, or they have another seizure without recovering between seizures.

They have had 3 or more seizures in 24 hours.

What is Time to Talk Day?

It is an annual awareness day held at the beginning of February each year. This year it falls on 5th February . It is run by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, in partnership with the Co-op. Talking about mental health isn't easy however opening up about the topic can make a huge difference to individuals. Talk to you friends, relatives and work colleagues.

Have you heard of World cancer Day?
It is a day dedicated to raising awareness of the disease and it's many forms and how it impacts people. It is held annually on 4th February. According to Macmillan Cancer support, over 3.5 million people are living with cancer.

******IMPORTANT NOTICE*****
From the week commencing 2nd February 2026 the sample drop of times for any type of sample is changing for the Forest Hall and White Swan branches of Stephenson Park Health Group. We cannot accept samples at White Swan surgery on a Monday or Tuesday although you can still drop these off at the Forest Hall branch. On Wednesday to Friday they will be accepted at White Swan up until 3.30pm. At Forest Hall, Samples must be handed in no later than 4pm on Monday to Thursday and by 3pm on a Friday.
