I jumped into the 11:30 Over 55s session today (I’ve been struggling a bit with motivation to train on my own lately, so I’m making the most of getting involved in sessions at the studio!)
It’s been a little while since I’ve coached this group, and I was honestly blown away by the progress. These ladies — ranging from early 60s right up to nearly 80 — are just incredible.
We all followed the same program, just with individual tweaks, regressions, progressions and different weights. I was going a bit heavier with some barbell work, while they were smashing their own variations with Coach Jonny making adjustments as they went. Same fundamentals, just adapted to the person — which is exactly what small group personal training is all about.
It really doesn’t matter your age, background, or training history. Whether you’ve trained your whole life or you’re just getting started, you can come in and get exactly what you need from every session.
In between sets, I also picked up some very helpful gardening tips… turns out I’ve been getting it all wrong 😂 I’ll definitely be bringing a notebook next time!
And I have to say, it was brilliant watching them wind up Coach Jonny and keep him on his toes the whole time 🤣
