ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Hugh (Hughie) Grant “The Grey Mare”

Audrey, Carol, Joan and Lewis would like to thank Callum for looking after our dad with such compassion, kindness and guidance through this sad and difficult journey. Your comforting service and carefully chosen words created a room that felt like a big hug. It was exactly as dad would have wanted.

We would also like to thank everyone for their kind words and messages, too many to mention, along with the many cards, floral tributes and phone calls. Your kindness has been a great comfort to us at this very sad time.

A very special thank you from Granny to Lewis, his grandson, for his continued care, kindness and love in our hours of need and beyond — always checking in and always there.

To Jenny, thank you for everything you did for Hugh over the years, from taking him to appointments and runs out in the car, to your continued support now. It has meant so much to us.

To Joan, thank you for your selfless devotion, “I’m still here Dad” she would say as she smoothed the blanket over him, brushed his hair and held his hand, whispering memories that made him smiled. All the time Joan made sure he felt loved and not to be scared. “I’ve got you Dad” she would say.

Thank you also to the many people who worked with our dad. Your kind words have filled our hearts with pride. Our dad truly was a gentle, hardworking gentleman.

Carol and Joan would also like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who remembers dad so fondly — his love of welding, his passion for his work, and the crack he had. We remember the lamppost joke like it was yesterday. Dad loved coming home and telling us the jokes, and we still remember them today.

We have truly felt the love through reading your condolences and will forever treasure just how much our dad meant and the impact he made on so many.

Thank you
