Why do GP Practice receptionists ask questions?

It’s not about being nosy—it’s about getting you the right care, just like an ambulance call handler needs details to send the right help. Receptionists and call navigators work under the same strict confidentiality rules as your doctor. Sharing a little information helps us help you faster and better.

Help us help you—answering a few questions makes a big difference.

***PATIENT NOTICE***

VIRAL ILLNESSES – There are an increased number of cases of respiratory viruses (such as cold, flu & rhinovirus) locally. To keep our patients and staff safe we would advise the following:

❗️If you have cold or flu-like symptoms, please first contact your pharmacy or see NHS Inform for further advice. If they direct you to your GP practice or you feel you need medical advice, please complete an Engage Consult or contact the surgery on 01346 518088.

❗️If you are advised to attend for an appointment please wear a face mask. Masks are available at reception and in consulting rooms if you do not have your own.

❗️If you are due to attend a routine appointment and have respiratory viral symptoms please contact the surgery on 01346 518088 so that precautions can be put in place. You may be asked to rebook your appointment if it is not urgent.

These measures are in place to protect patients and staff alike, and particularly for our most vulnerable patients.

Thank you for your help with this.
