I know, it's been a long week already, and it's only Wednesday

One of the things I hear most after class ... โ€œI get the best nights sleep after yoga.โ€

Itโ€™s with the heaviest of hearts that I share the news that my dear friend, mentor, business partner, buddy CEO, inspiration and cheerleader, Emmie, sadly passed away this week after her brave battle with cancer.

Like so many, I first met Emmie when I thought I just needed a massage. What I found instead was a phenomenal joyous woman who could not only fix aches and pains but somehow see right into your heart and soul. She had this rare gift of helping you heal your body while also helping you find strength and clarity in your mind.

Emmie was one of the kindest, funniest, most fiercely open and honest people you could ever hope to meet. With a quick witted, wicked sense of humour, and a way of delivering โ€œgood painโ€ and honest opinion with a smile, knowing it was making you better. She inspired me in so many ways, pushing me to dream bigger, to take leaps and to keep growing. Together we shared grand ideas, lots of plans, and even open our own studio space.

Emmie, your energy, strength, and way of seeing the world will never be forgotten. You touched so many lives more than you will ever know.

She will be missed beyond words. But her laughter, her wisdom, and her spirit will continue to ripple through all of us who were lucky enough to know her.

Forever loved. Forever remembered.

It built my strength, improved my flexibility, boosted my confidence, and helped me discover who I really am.

Even though my practice has shifted and evolved over the years, Ashtanga is still the foundation that underpins everything I practice and teach.
