Help with using digital technology

Did you know we hold several sessions a week where you can come and chart to the team about a wide range of digital technology issues, including:

✔ downloading and using the NHS App, including ordering repeat prescriptions
✔ using our website online forms (for example, for repeat prescriptions, change of contact details, blood pressure etc.)
✔ setting up linked profiles (proxy access) on the NHS App
✔ helping you use the links we sometimes send out by text message inviting you to book an appointment

Please come along and see the team this week if you need a hand with something like this. You don't need an appointment, just turn up but do try and bring your mobile phone or tablet with you if you can.

Here's where to find the team this week:

Tuesday 31st March
10am to midday at the practice
1pm to 3pm at Sainsbury's

Wednesday 1st April
10am to midday at Holy Trinity Church Hall

Thursday 2nd April
10am to 11:30am in the cafe at the Cheese and Grain
4pm to 6pm at the practice (please note, this session will end at 6pm this week, rather than the usual 8pm)

Today is Social Prescribing Day!

What is social prescribing?

Many things that affect our health cannot be treated by doctors or medicine alone, like loneliness, isolation or stress due to problems with debt or housing. Social prescribing connects people to non-medical support to address these issues and other unmet needs.

Social prescribing involves understanding the complexities of people’s lives and the inequalities they may face. It can help change the circumstances that make people unwell, and empower people to manage existing health problems. It can help people to connect and to grow in confidence.

Social prescribing at Frome Medical Practice

We call our social prescribers 'Health Connectors'. Our team provides free support to help you improve your health and wellbeing. We can:

🔄 Connect you to local services and activities, such as walking groups or financial advice
👥 Offer 1 to 1 support to help you set goals and make changes that matter to you
💬 Offer group healthier lifestyle programmes, such as our Habits For Health group

We’re here to listen and support you in managing your health in ways that are meaningful to you. Find out more on our website - search 'health connections' or click the link below

Stockpiling your medication can be dangerous for your pets and for children.

Tons of medication ends up wasted every year because of stockpiling, but last year you helped us reduce this waste by only ordering what you needed.

With your help, in just one year we reduced prescribing by over 22,000 items and prevented 122 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, equivalent to driving over 535,000 miles. This saved the NHS an astonishing £280,000!

Please continue to only order what you need, to keep your pets and children safe and to continue helping us stop waste.

We offer our patients who are living with pain the opportunity to take part in a programme called Live Well with Pain.

Our next 6 week Live Well With Pain Group starts on Thursday 16th April. Sessions will take place every Thursday at the practice from 11am to 1pm.

This programme is a face to face group which provides you with a step by step guide to living well despite your persistent pain. When people self-manage their pain, their quality of life improves. Eventually it stops dominating their day and they begin to get more out of life.

Knowing how to self-manage your pain is not automatic, but it is something that you can learn. Our Live Well With Pain Group can help you with this.

Want to find out more?

Visit our website and search for 'live well with pain' (or click the link below). If you'd like to join our next group you will also find the link there to our pre-attendance form. Fill that in and one of the team will be in touch to chat with you about joining the sessions.
