We are back open this morning, Friday 2nd January from 8am but we are expecting a busier than usual day. Here's how you can help us support all our patients:

πŸ“² Please use the NHS App to make certain appointments and to request repeat prescriptions

❗️Before using our online appointment request form please check if the reason you are getting in touch is something a local pharmacy can help you with - search 'nhs pharmacy help' or click this link https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/pharmacies/how-pharmacies-can-help/

πŸ’» If you do need to request an appointment please use our online form where possible. Phoning us or visiting in person won't mean you get seen quicker and we will still need to complete the same form with you. Please try to keep our phone lines clear for those patients who really can't access our form online.

πŸ₯° Please be patient - if you submit your form it will be assessed by a GP on the same day but this doesn't mean you will hear back from us that same day. We will be in touch with you as soon as possible about next steps. Urgent issues are obviously prioritised.

Many thanks for your help.

31/12/2025

The practice will be closed on New Year's Day. If you need medical assistance whilst we are closed, please see the links below.

We anticipate being busier than usual when we reopen on Friday morning (2nd January). Please bear this in mind if you are submitting an online appointment request form or calling the practice for any reason. The team will be working as fast as possible to assess requests and we ask you to remain patient whilst you wait to hear back from us. Please remember you can use the NHS App to book some routine appointments and you can use the NHS App or our online prescription form if you need to order a repeat prescription.

We'd like to thank you for your support during 2025 and wish you a Happy New Year!

If you need medical help when we are closed please use NHS 111, either at https://111.nhs.uk/ or by calling 111.

If you need a pharmacist, you can check which pharmacies are open here: https://nhssomerset.nhs.uk/my-health/my-local-health-services/pharmacies/

We've taken a look back at 2025 and here is just some of the work we've undertaken over the last 12 months.

Over the year, our team answered 77,532 incoming telephone calls, made 107,166 calls, and delivered 115,681 appointments. Our medicines management team actioned 56,655 electronic prescription requests, helping patients receive safe and efficient access to the medications they rely on.

We introduced weekday afternoon and Saturday morning blood tests, which improved access for patients to blood tests and led to a huge reduction in rejected samples.

Our commitment to reducing barriers to healthcare was nationally recognised when we received the Internet Service Providers’ Association Digital Inclusion Champion Award. Through digital health sessions, delivered at the practice and in the community, we supported thousands of patients to build the skills and confidence needed to navigate online NHS services.

Recognition of our team’s dedication also came in the form of multiple award shortlists: General Practice Awards - Practice of the Year and GP of the Year and the Primary Care Pharmacy Association Pharmacy Technician of the Year. These recognitions highlight the expertise that underpins our patient centred approach.

This year also saw the success of our Only Order What You Need campaign, which encouraged responsible medication use, improved patient safety, and reduced prescribing costs by Β£278,000.

Our sustainability work, in partnership with Frome Town Council and Edventure through the Green and Healthy Frome project, reinforces our belief that caring for our patients includes caring for the environment they live in.

Being selected to be part of the Primary Care Network national pilot has further supported exploring improved models of integrated care, strengthening our ability to provide holistic, patient focused services.

As we look to the future, our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and outstanding patient care remains at the heart of everything we do

COLD WEATHER ALERT

A 'yellow' cold health alert has been issued by the Met Office for our area and is in place until midday on Monday 5th January (this date is subject to change).

Cold weather can have serious consequences for health, and older people and those with heart or lung conditions can be particularly at risk.

If you are unable to keep your home warm, there are a number of warm spaces in Frome where you are welcome to spend time over the festive period including:

βœ” Terrestrial's Winter CafΓ© at the Key Centre, open Monday to Friday 10:30am to 4:30pm through December and January. It closes at 2:30pm on New Year's Eve and is closed New Year's Day. The cafe is inside the Key Centre, Feltham Lane, Frome BA11 5AJ.
βœ” The Good Heart is a warm space open every Monday and Tuesday 11:30am to 2:30pm, including 30th December. The Good Heart is on 7 Palmer St, Frome BA11 1DS.

The Severe Weather Emergency Provision is now active in Somerset. Suitable accommodation may be available for rough sleepers during severe weather. If you are sleeping rough or know someone who is phone Somerset Council on 0300 123 2224
(Out of hours: 0300 123 2327)

Other advice on staying safe and warm during cold weather includes:

➑ Look out for friends, family and neighbours who may be vulnerable to the cold and ensure they have access to warm food and drinks and are managing to heat their homes adequately.
➑ Wear a few layers of thin clothing rather than one thick layer; this will trap the heat better to keep you warm. Thin layers of clothes made from cotton, wool or fleecy fibres are particularly good for maintaining body heat.
➑ Keep moving if you can, this will help keep you warm. Try not to sit for more than an hour, get up and walk around, make a hot drink and spread housework throughout the day.
➑ Try to maintain indoor temperatures of at least 18C if you can, particularly if you are not mobile, have long term illness or are 65 or over. If you can’t heat all the rooms you use, heat the living room during the day and your bedroom just before you go to sleep.
