✔ Setting up and using the NHS App
✔ Ordering repeat prescriptions on the NHS App - quick and easy to do - let us show you how!
✔ Advice on creating a linked profile (also known as proxy access) for a child or other adult you care for (if both registered with us)
✔ Using our online forms for things like updating contact details, requesting fit notes etc

Navigating Menopause - new 6 week programme starts 26th February

Our 'Navigating Menopause' programme aims to help patients manage their symptoms by making small lifestyle changes during the stages of menopause.

The programme focuses on realistic and manageable lifestyle changes and lasts 6 weeks. Here's what we will cover:

Week 1: Understanding Menopause & Getting Started (Introduction to Tiny Habits)
Week 2: Sleep
Week 3: Movement and the Menopausal Body
Week 4: Emotional Wellbeing
Week 5: Eating for Your Life Stage
Week 6: Social Connection and Identity

The sessions will be held on Thursday evenings, starting on 26th February. Each session will be held at the practice and will start at 6pm, lasting 1.5 hours. Facilitated by one of our Health Connectors, sessions will also include guest speakers from our wider practice team.

This programme is open to Frome Medical Practice patients.

Job vacancy - Care Navigator

Join our team at Frome Medical Practice as a Care Navigator! You will be responsible for providing excellent patient support, booking appointments, signposting to other departments, and handling enquiries from patients and visitors. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills.

The Care Navigator role may offer potential future development opportunities, including progression into deputy or team lead positions, for the right person.

Hours: full and part time (and Saturdays as overtime on a rota basis)
Salary: £24,344.26 per annum pro rata
Contract Length: Permanent and Fixed Term
Closing date: 15 February 2026
Interview date: week commencing 23 February 2026

Come to a Menopause Discussion Group at Frome Medical Practice

Our Menopause Discussion Group is for patients registered with us who are considering taking HRT for the first time. Here are the details of our next group:

📅 Tuesday 10th March 2026
🕒 6pm to 8pm (you will need to be able to attend for the whole session)
📍 Frome Medical Practice

During the session we will talk about:

✅ Menopause symptoms and how they vary from person to person.
✅ Ways to manage symptoms.
✅ HRT treatment options, including benefits and risks.
✅ Alternative treatments, such as lifestyle changes.
✅ Signposting to other support resources

➡ Do you need showing how you can order repeat prescriptions via the NHS App?
➡ Would you like to set up a linked profile on the NHS App so you can help someone else manage their health care (also called proxy access)?
➡ Or perhaps you want someone to show you how to use our different online forms?

These are just some of the health related digital technology issues our digital support team can help you with. And there are 5 opportunities to see the team this week - here's where they will be if you need their help:

Thursday 12th February 10am to 11.30am at the cafe in the Cheese and Grain

People aged 75 to 79 can get a free vaccination to protect themselves from respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), a common lung infection that can lead to serious illnesses like pneumonia.

The vaccine is also available to people who turned 80 years old after 1st September 2024 and to women who are 28 weeks or more pregnant (usually offered at your antenatal appointment).

If you're in the 75 to 79 age group or turned 80 after 1st September 2024 please contact us to book your appointment.

FREE TALK - health and climate, local and global, connecting us to our planet

Come along and discover how global systems relate to us, as we host a conversation between two doctors - a Doctor of human ailments, Dr Georgie Kirby, a GP at the practice, and a Doctor of earth elements, Dr Louise Farquharson, Research Assistant Professor at University of Alaska Fairbanks.

We will look at the critical link between the local and the global - how the climate crisis shapes our health, how our environment connects us here and to elsewhere.

Hosted by Sue Palmer from and Charlotte Carson, Community Sustainability Lead at the practice, we will explore common threads around human health, water, geological time and identify tangible actions that link health and

The Healthy Homes team will be back at the practice tomorrow, Wednesday 4th February, from midday to 4pm.

Come and speak to the team for free impartial advice about keeping your home warm and dry. You can also find out about grants, quick wins and support available to help you, if needed.

The team are making a real difference to people's lives. For example, last year they were able to support a Frome resident who was living in a cold home with an outdated boiler, no hot water, and mounting debt due to unresolved solar panel issues. Thanks to the support the Healthy Homes offered, she has successfully resolved the dispute with the solar panel provider, secured grant funding for a heat pump and seen improvements in her finances, her health and energy efficiency.
