Catherine House Care Home is a home, not a hotel or an institution. Here, life is still about living with choice, dignity and things that still hold meaning.

Mealtimes aren’t fixed or formal, you choose when you eat and what to eat, just as you would at home.

Mealtimes are about good food, shared company, conversation and proper home-cooked meals that are nourishing and quite incredibly delicious!

That was fast! In under 40 minutes, all 30 pumpkins were gone! 🎃
A big thank you to Activity Coordinator Sharon and her granddaughter, Team Member Sandra and her granddaughter (who designed the lovely “Free Pumpkin” signs), and family member Ruby, who fully embraced the Halloween spirit, complete with her witch’s hat, calling herself the “The Wicked Witch of Wookey Hole!”

And thank you to Shaun, a good friend of one of our family members, who joined in the fun and helped spread plenty of smiles (and pumpkins!) throughout the afternoon.

It’s been so popular that people are still knocking on the door, so Sharon’s decided to get another 30 pumpkins ready to give away tomorrow!

Join us at Catherine House Care Home on Sunday 2nd November for our Autumn Craft Market from 10am to 3pm with local stalls, a BBQ, refreshments, and plenty of community fun! 🍂

Familiar routines, new moments and plenty of time to be ourselves. 🍂

🎃 We’re getting into the autumn spirit! Pop by on Wednesday 29th October between 1pm and 3pm to pick up a pumpkin, we’ve got around 30 to give away, first come, first served.

There’ll also be a few little treat bags for the children (and anyone with a sweet tooth).

It’s a lovely way for our residents and the local community to share a bit of seasonal fun together, we’d love to see you!

Bea enjoyed a typical day spending time doing the things she likes best. She caught up on some reading in her favourite chair, enjoyed a home-cooked lunch, and later relaxed in the garden with one of the friendly cats. 😸

It’s the little everyday moments like these that make life feel familiar and personal, with support from a team who really get to know each person and what matters to them.

Thank you to Smith Blackwill – also known as The Pom-pom Lady, for coming in to host a brilliant seated pom-pom class. 🥰

Pom-pom sessions are a fun and gentle way to keep moving, helping with coordination and circulation while bringing lots of smiles. They are especially valuable for people living with a Dementia, as the rhythm and colour encourage engagement, and make exercise feel light and enjoyable.
