What if we choose to align with positivity and joy in birth. How different could our experience be??

Society, television shows, and movies portrays childbirth as an inherently awful, painful, and dangerous experience. For generations, Western culture has perpetuated the idea that labor is an agonising, traumatic event that must be endured.

Where is the perspective that says normal, straightforward, or empowering births are possible!?

A combination of cultural conditioning, the medicalisation of birth, media sensationalism, and historical narratives equate pain with safety.

What if we choose to move away images of women screaming in pain, lying on their backs, and in need of rescue.

Because what we do know is- what you focus on, is what you feed. If you are feeding the doubt or uncertainty that it’s going to suck, then guess what, it will!

But if you nurture the possibility that it will be positive thats the hardwork, thats the heart-work.
Birth can absolutely be beautiful 🤍✨

I feel so honoured to be here
standing beside you,
watching your breath deepen,
your confidence return.

This is your profoundly transformative VBAC.
Amid the hum of monitors and the steady pulse of the room,
you are fiercely supported.

And I watch you soften into surrender.
These moments feel sacred. Still.
I see your strength rising —
you are stronger than you know.

A triumphant birth that reshapes everything.
To hold space as your doula,
and to capture it as your birth photographer,
is a privilege I will carry in my heart forever.
With grace and power you were welcomed.

Sometimes births can take unexpected turns.
More often than not, they surprise us, one way or another, rather than go exactly as planned. Some are longer, some are shorter, some are easier and some are that much harder than we anticipated. And sometimes they throw us a curveball.

Despite a shoulder dystocia, this mum and her team moved together with such grace, even when things got scary. And in the end, we were all so grateful, welcoming the chunkiest, most gorgeous baby girl

And a glorious VBAC to boot!

So safe and so loved wrapped up in their mamas arms.
Their sweet souls so protected

I’m feeling so overwhelmed with sadness for all of my friends and loved ones in LA at the moment who are affected by the fires. I can’t begin to imagine the suffering, loss and devastation that so many must be feeling. Those who are pregnant and have lost everything, those who are newly postpartum and have lost everything.

Sending big Sunday love to all ❤️💔

There is simply no other feeling like this in the world.
So many emotions, all somehow wrapped into one. Joy, exhaustion, love, accomplishment.

And for me to be trusted to document these moments, freeze them in time. I will tell you it never ever gets old.

My camera and I are excited for 2025 ❤️✨

We are their first home. Their safe space. The first breath they learn to match. Our heart beat they know better than their own. Our bodies are brave and stretched as we grow them, birth them and raise them.

Look at their little eyes.

This is beauty. This is life ❤️

‘Giving birth is a huge event, emotionally and physically, and will make demands on the body equivalent to, for example, running a marathon. But when a woman feels confident in her body, well supported, and able to express herself without inhibition, the pain that she may feel can become bearable’

Did you lick your Babe!? ✨

Okay, hear me out—before you start imagining anything too wild, I’m talking about the instinctive bonding behaviours that connect mothers to their newborns. You can never predict how you’ll respond the moment your baby is born. You might burst into laughter, shed tears, or even do both simultaneously. But what about feeling the urge to lick your newborn? While the term “licking” might seem a bit strange in the human context, there’s something wildly beautiful about the ways in which mothers connect with their babies right after birth.

Surprisingly, some new mothers experience this instinct, and it’s not as odd as it sounds. In reality, it’s an expression of deep love.

In the animal kingdom, some mothers instinctively lick their newborns to clean them, encourage breathing, and promote bonding. While humans obviously don’t do this literally, the essence of this behaviour is still alive.
Whether it’s gently kissing, caressing, or simply holding your baby close, the act of bonding through touch is a mother’s way of “licking” her baby in the most nurturing way possible.

So tell me, did you feel the urge to lick your newborn!?
