The Easter Activities continue on the ward!
Meet Wendy from NHSPS
Every year Easter Halloween and Christmas Wendy produces a themed trolley to entertain and delight the patients to brighten up their stay. Isn’t she fabulous?
We bought all patients an Easter egg from Lincolnshire NHS Charity charitable funds
Donna one of our brilliant volunteers made the knitted egg cosies and hid eggs around the ward for the staff to find
Donna CTL decorated the windows in the ward with Easter themed window stickers
All with an aim to ensure Easter wasn’t forgotton for patients with us and staff working over the bank holiday weekend

It’s been a busy Easter weekend and the ladies were busy making Easter bonnets!

Charlii came in on her day off with her son and they set up the crafts in the day room and the ladies loved it!
Here are some of the staff modelling them too!
Donna ordered the sets thinking they came with a bonnet but they didn’t! So we had to improvise!

Staff are purchasing a seed and pot with a soil plug for a pound
Over 60 seeds sold so far

Meet Chunky!
He comes regularly to visit his ‘grandad who is a patient on the ward.
On Scotter we as a team recognise how important pets are to our patients and welcome well behaved pets on the ward and actively encourage it. Not only does it perk the patient up but fellow patients love it too …..and the staff do too as you can see from these photos!!!
Chunky has quite a fan club!! 🤩🐾
If your relative is staying with us on the ward as a patient and you would like to bring their pet in please see the nurse in charge to enquire and arrange 🐾🐾🐾
(Outside visits can be accomodated too)

Sometimes we as a team don’t fully realise how much we touch people’s lives even when they spend such a short time with us in our palliative care beds on the ward.
Meet Les
He was a patient with us last year and he sadly passed away with us. His wife and daughter came back to see us last month with a huge donation to our charitable funds in his memory
Here’s a few words from Stella his wife and daughter Janice

Les' love of gardening began at an early age learning alongside his Uncle George on a Gainsborough allotment. His particular interest in dahlias really took hold when he began having success in breeding his own varieties at his home in Blyton. Blyton Softer Gleam, Blyton Stella (named after his wife) and Blyton Red Ace are just a few of Les' dahlias now recognised commercially and around the world. When Les sadly died last year the family were overwhelmed by the level of care and compassion shown during his time on Scotter Ward. In honour of this Stella spent her summer selling dahlias to raise over £500 for the new Scotter Ward. Les' family are happy to hear that monies raised will go towards the development of the outdoor patio and garden area and hope to see his legacy of dahlias planted there.

We have already utilised some of the donation in our new garden area (watch out for the posts) and will be honoured to recieve some Dahlia’s to plant in there too

Donna popped into Tescos this morning and picked up a donation from them for the patients and staff on the ward as part of their community charities project. Our patients and staff will really appreciate these Thankyou!!
We are going to use the facecloths and soap as part of packs for the relatives of palliative or poorly patients staying overnight ….this may seem a small thing but it will make a big difference to them

Or the Scrambled 🥚Legs poach the lead while the Stroll Patrol 🚨 step up the pace or will The Walkie Talkies 📻 cut the chat and increase their volume of steps 👟 👟 watch this space 🚶🚶🚶 xx

A few more Christmas photos to share
Staff were able to wear Christmas scrubs over the festive period which made the patients smile!
We also made Christmas placemats to use on the tables at mealtimes
And a huge thanks to our ward clerks Debbie and Carolyne for the fantastic reception display! 🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻

It will soon be time to take down the Christmas window decorations! Our staff had a fabulous time decorating up so as the ward looked festive for our patients staying with us over Christmas 🎄🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻
