There are over 520,000 people in the UK with Alzheimer's disease, which is the most common cause of dementia.

Dad received a diagnosis in 2023, and while we can't change his diagnosis, we can contribute to research that might help many others in the future.

Inspired by the active life my Dad has always enjoyed, in March, I'll be running the Barcelona Marathon to raise money for Alzheimer's research and support.

I wanted to do something positive – to celebrate the person my Dad is, and every mile I run, I'll be thinking of all the memories we're fighting to protect.

If you're able to support this cause, any donation – large or small – would mean the world to everyone facing the changes and challenges Alzheimer's brings.

Recovery Strategies 🕵‍♀️

Recovery isn't one-size-fits-all, but these are some important factors to consider:

👋🏻 Connection with running communities, even if you prefer to run alone.

😉 Being flexible with your training plan!

Your body is constantly communicating. Are you listening? 

Key signals of running exhaustion:

😬 Persistent fatigue

😬 Changes in resting heart rate

😬 Mood fluctuations

😬 Decreased performance

😬 Unusual physical discomfort

Tip: A training journal can be a great way to pick up on patterns and warning signals - and it doesn't have to be fancy or complicated 😉
