Following on from our message on Monday, for the foreseeable future, our facility will be operating under controlled buzzer entry only.

This decision follows a recent incident involving aggressive behaviour, including an assault on a clinician.

Upon Ballochymle Medical Group taking over management of Galston Medical Practice, it had been our intent to fully revert back to an open door policy which we have facilitated for over a year now. It is disappointing that we have reached a conjecture where this difficult decision hs had to be taken.

However, I am sure you will be able to understand that the safety and well-being of our staff and patients is our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time.

Important Notice

From today 30/06/25, the front door of the practice will close at 16:30 each day. After this time, entry will be via buzzer access only until practice closure at 17:30.

This has been a difficult decision, but unfortunately, we’ve had to take this step due to increasing incidents of aggressive behaviour towards our staff.

We want to reassure you that our commitment to patient care remains unchanged. However, our team has the right to work in a safe and respectful environment, and we must take steps to protect their wellbeing.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support.

SURGERY CLOSURE, AFTERNOON OF WEDNESDAY 19th FEBRUARY 2025

GP Practices take part in a number of Protected Learning Time (PLT) events throughout the year. This dedicated time allows the practice the opportunity to close for the afternoon to carry out essential staff training and address learning and professional development needs for the whole Practice team. This Protected Learning Time allows us as a Practice to improve on our service delivery and ensure we are providing a high standard of care to our patient population.

We would like to advise you that the Practice will be closed for a PLT event on the following date:

Wednesday 19th February from 12.30 pm - 5.30 pm

Between the hours of 12.30 pm-5.30 pm on this day, if you require urgent medical attention which cannot wait until the following day to be seen by your GP, please telephone the Ayrshire Urgent Care Service on 01563 826930 and a member of staff will be able to assist you with your enquiry.

The Ayrshire Urgent Care Service will provide a clinical assessment where required and if you require to be seen by a GP within these hours, your GP Practice will contact you directly.

The surgery will re-open as usual on Thursday 20th February.
