Patient Notice:

The surgery will be closed for training from 13.00 on Wednesday 12th November, and will re-open 08.30 on Thursday 13th.

But why do we close for training?

All GP Practices in Gateshead are given protected time in order for both clinical and non-clinical staff to attend vital training and updates. Training is organised centrally so that it includes all surgeries across Gateshead at the same time. Surgeries ensure that when planning routine appointments the half day protected training is taken into consideration. The disruption to patients is minimal. Closing the surgery ensures that all staff can attend these sessions.

Patients aged 18-64 with a long term condition can receive a free Flu jab. Appointments available via our website at https://www.felltowermedicalcentre.nhs.uk/appointments or simply call in during our walk-in clinic on November 5th from 16.30, no appointment needed.

Wednesday 5th November, from 16.30: Patients aged 18-64 (with a long term condition)

Patients can also book a specific appointment by following the booking link which they received via text message.

⚠️ NEXT WEDNESDAY the 0800 crisis numbers you might be familiar with will be closing, as people can now get the same help by calling NHS 111.

Crisis teams and mental health services are NOT changing or going away - you’ll still receive the same expert help from our trained mental health teams.
It’s ONLY the number to call them on that’s changing.

At the moment, each different local area in the Northumberland, Tyneside, Sunderland and North Cumbria region has its own local 0800 number to call for help in a mental health crisis. But from 1 October, these local numbers will close. Instead, anyone who needs support with a crisis must call NHS 111 and select the ‘mental health’ option.

📞 NHS 111 is free, and available 24/7.

Having one simple, national number will make it easier for people to know where to turn for help in a crisis – rather than having to remember or look up different local phone numbers.
