At Shaftesbury, we believe everyone deserves to feel at home at Christmas.

For Mandy, that feeling comes from the little things: her own room with a sea view, her church community, and the chance to celebrate her faith in a space where she feels safe and valued.

Now that she is at Shaftesbury Ashley Place she can fully embrace the festive season - attending church, decorating her room, and sharing hugs with staff every morning.

Christmas isn’t always easy, but for Mandy, it’s a time of connection and comfort. With the support of her long-time friend Jean and a caring staff team, the door has truly opened to the kind of celebration she deserves.

At Shaftesbury, we believe everyone deserves to feel valued, supported, and included – especially at Christmas. But for many people with disabilities, this time of year can highlight what’s missing.

🎬 In our latest campaign, we’re sharing powerful stories from the people we support:

✨ Matthew’s life changed overnight after a devastating accident. Once an active father of three, he now lives in Shaftesbury care, facing challenges he never imagined – but surrounded by the people who make sure he stays connected to those he loves.

✨ Veasna, known as V, is non-verbal and has Cerebral palsy. After being abandoned as a baby and enduring neglect in a previous service, he now flourishes at Shaftesbury Ashley Place – supported, seen, and empowered.

✨ Mandy has spent her life in residential care. Her faith is her foundation, and at Shaftesbury, she’s supported to attend church and live with dignity in a place she proudly calls home.

There have been celebrations at Shaftesbury John Grooms Court in Norwich this week as Andrew turns 70!

He enjoyed a party with family, followed by one with his Shaftesbury community. A local entertainer was hired in to sing some classics from the 50s and 60s.

Wishing Andrew a very happy birthday from all at Shaftesbury.
