Care homes are among the most demanding living environments. Residents are often highly vulnerable, facilities are shared, family visits are frequent, and space can sometimes be limited. As highlighted during the COVID outbreak, these factors can significantly increase the risk of hygiene challenges and the transmission of infection among residents.
That’s why I’m particularly interested in the potential of Biovitae antimicrobial lighting within care home living spaces.
✅ Operates continuously in occupied areas
✅ Supports cleaner environments in communal spaces, dining areas, residents’ bedrooms, en-suites and bathrooms
✅ Designed to complement, not replace, routine cleaning by helping to reduce microbial burden continuously between cleans
✅ Provides a practical additional layer of protection aligned with Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and Standard Infection Control Precautions (SICPs) monitored by the Care Quality Commission (CQC)
This is not about gimmicks. It’s about introducing a persistent environmental hygiene measure in the areas that matter most — where residents live, eat, sleep and wash. By doing so, it can help reduce the risk of outbreaks (including common bacterial and fungal issues) while supporting overall resident wellbeing.
