‘What if your child was diagnosed with a disease so rare it didn’t have a name?’ - Arthur’s Quest

One of our lovely clients’ mums will be walking 300km on the 1st May 2026 to raise money for Arthurs Quest - a charity dedicated to supporting those diagnosed with SLC6A1 and their families.

Helen says ‘There are fewer than 30 families in the UK living with an SLC6A1 diagnosis. The walk will be a huge physical challenge for me, but nothing compared to the challenges these children face every single day.’

Let’s take a look to see what some of our clients have been up to with their PA’s recently!

- Matt went on a work trip to Lisbon and enjoyed some downtime on Segway’s with his PA ☀️

- Lauren was bridesmaid at her friends’ wedding- her PA’s kept her safe and had fun throughout the day! 💐

- Daniel and his mum have been on lots of cruises- they took his PA on her first cruise and she loved it! 🚢

- Phoebe and her PA have been learning new skills 🥁

- Much like lots of our clients- Joel celebrated Halloween (His PA managed to avoid dressing up) 🎃

- Eoin loves a theme park day out-he went for a day out with a friend to Alton Towers. 🎢

Integrated care boards (ICBs) manage their local NHS budget and commission services. The ICB makes all final decisions on how money is spent in their area and meets regularly at panel to approve NHS continuing healthcare packages.

What if we told you that the NHS may be able to pay for your care support?

If you live with complex health conditions due to a long term illness, accident or injury CHC (Continuing Healthcare) may be able to help!

Care support can be complicated to navigate,
and lots of our clients spend years waiting for the right support.

CHC (Continuing healthcare) essentially refers to who pays for your support and what kind of support you receive.

If a trained professional assesses you to have ‘A Primary Health Need’ your care support may be covered by the NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) rather than the Local Authority.

PRIMARY HEALTH NEED: A term used in the UK to determine if care support is predominantly health-related and should be funded by the NHS, or social care related and therefore funded by local authorities.

We’re back to unpick another one of those code words!

Throughout your Care Needs Assessment you’ll be assessed by a MDT (Multidisciplinary Team) based on how your condition affects you and your ability to complete daily activities independently and safely.

What is an MDT?

A multidisciplinary team (MDT) is made up of a minimum of 2 professionals from different healthcare professions.

They should usually include both health and social care professionals who are already involved in your care.

We know acronyms and abbreviations can make things confusing!

It’s time to be honest…

There have been times where we’ve sat in important meetings early on in our careers listening to professionals speak in code and wondered to ourselves if we were speaking the same language…

Here at LiveYou we believe strongly in avoiding using medical jargon and complicated acronyms as we know just how confusing they can be!

So let’s break things down.

A supported bank account (SBA) is a bank account in the name of a disabled person managed by someone else with their consent.

A Supported Bank Account (SBA) is often used to support a disabled person with all the financial admin that comes alongside employing personal assistants;paying staff, managing invoices, and tracking finances etc.

LiveYou helps to support clients with their personal budgets managing everything from Payroll to any additional fees that come with having care support!
