A bit of encouragement for the week ahead.

Men Walking and Talking Gateshead is on again this Wednesday. Same place. Same time. As always.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve heard a few stories of men joining our country-wide walks because someone in their life gave them a nudge. A partner, a friend, a family member.

Sometimes it’s hard to take that first step on your own. Sometimes you just need someone to point you in the right direction.

So whether you’ve been thinking about coming along yourself, or you’ve got someone in your life who might benefit from it, take this as a bit of encouragement.

Come along. Or pass it on.

No pressure when you arrive. Just a walk, good company, and space to be yourself.

You’ll be made welcome. 👊🏻

Last night’s Men Walking and Talking Gateshead felt like a bit of a milestone.

For the first time, we had the official MWAT flag with us — which saved me a job having to draw it in afterwards. 😅 It also means we get to show with some pride who we are and what we do, week after week, for any man who might need it.

It was also the first time that we had daylight for the entire walk, which made a real difference. Lighter evenings, a bit more energy, and a reminder that things are moving in the right direction.

But more than anything, it was another example of something simple working. A few men turning up. Walking side by side. Talking if they want to, a bit of patter, or just enjoying the walk and the company.

No pressure. No expectations. Just showing up.

And that’s really what this is about. Not big numbers or big moments, but consistency. Creating something that’s there whenever someone feels ready to join.

If you’ve been thinking about coming along, you’d be very welcome on the next one.

And if not, please feel free to share this with someone who might need to know it’s there.
