π‘ Did you know your neck has 8 cervical nerve roots β but only 7 vertebrae?
Your C8 nerve root exits between C7 and T1 β even though there's no "C8 vertebra." These nerve roots control sensation and movement in your shoulders, arms, and hands β so when one gets compressed (a condition called Cervical Radiculopathy), you might feel pain, tingling, or weakness that travels from your neck down your arm.
Here's the fascinating part π
Even a tiny pressure of 5β10 mmHg (that's less than a gentle squeeze!) can slow down nerve function and cause symptoms.
At GX Physio, our physiotherapists assess which nerve paths are irritated and use:
β
Manual cervical traction to relieve pressure
β
Targeted strengthening for deep neck flexors
β
Postural re-education and nerve glides
β
Personalised home exercise plans to keep symptoms away
𦴠The goal? To help you move better, restore strength, and get back to doing what you love β pain-free.
