Hawkinge Crematorium sits within the site of Hawkinge Cemetery and around 6 acres of beautifully landscaped and tended Gardens of Remembrance. The chapel was originally built in 1929 as a cemetery chapel and then converted to a crematorium in 1956 which has now been modernised.

The crematorium is situated not too far from an old airfield used by Spitfire and Hurricane pilots during the Battle of Britain, and two of the gardens of remembrance are named after these planes. The film Battle of Britain was largely filmed at Hawkinge and the nearby Jackdaw public house. We are regularly on the flight path of Spitfire experience flights, the iconic aeroplanes can be seen flying above us in the Summer months.

Our chapel has been redesigned to give a light, airy and welcoming feel. We can seat up to 63 people. We do have an extended section at the back of the chapel with visual screens and a speaker system if there are congregation that cannot be seated inside the chapel.

Like someone who has it together.

And underneath all of it, there's a person just trying to stay upright."
