Our next support group maritime hospital will be on 15th January. All are welcome and we hope more groups will start across the country and awareness of the impact this major emergency surgery has on patients and their families grows. To this end, www.nela.org.uk continues to work hard to represent every patient who has this operation in England and Wales and has just published their most recent report. They will be looking for patients with lived experience to join their advisory group this year. More details to follow.

The National Emergency Laparotomy Audit (NELA) is being carried out by the NIAA/HSRC on behalf of the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
