Welcome to the team Astrid! 👋🏻

We are really excited to announce that Astrid will be joining our team here at CH Osteopathy!

Astrid graduated earlier this year with a Master’s in Osteopathy. With a holistic, evidence-based approach at the core of her practice, Astrid is committed to supporting patients through tailored treatment plans that address the whole person, not just their symptoms 👩🏻‍⚕️.

Astrid has a particular interest in working with amputee patients, helping them navigate the unique physical challenges that can accompany limb loss 🧑🏻‍🦽.
Alongside this specialist focus, Astrid enjoys treating a wide range of conditions, including headaches, joint pain, and musculoskeletal dysfunction across all areas of the body.

After a truly special time away on maternity leave, I’m so happy to be returning to clinic tomorrow and reconnecting with my patients.

Officially on maternity leave🤰🏻.

I am now officially on maternity leave! I want to say thank you to all of my patients for supporting me this year, and thank you so much to everyone for keeping me going and being my rock through this pregnancy. You are the most amazing bunch of people to work with! 🤗.

I’ll be returning to work in May and will send out messages to all of my regulars closer to the time to confirm my hours and get you booked back in! 😄.

My amazing colleague Naomi will be increasing her hours whilst I’m off and will be offering appointments on Mondays, Thursdays and alternating Wednesday and Fridays. Her diary is now live for you to start booking your 2025 appointments!

Celebrating progress! 🐾.

I started treating Eric towards the end of last year. He’d been diagnosed with a partial cruciate ligament tear in his right hind leg and was facing surgery to get it repaired.

When I first started treating him, he was very sensitive around his legs and didn’t like me touching them but fast forward six months later having had a combination of regular osteopathy and hydrotherapy, not only is he happy for me to work on his knee, he insists on sitting on my lap whilst I work on him, and best of all we’ve managed to avoid having surgery! 🙌🏻.

Seeing his transformation over these months has been so amazing. He’s no longer lame and he’s now moving with so much confidence. I’ll now be seeing Eric every few months for regular check ups to ensure he stays healthy and strong ❤️🐶.

Don’t let past injuries define your future💪.

I’ve seen countless patients worried that their old musculoskeletal injuries will haunt them forever 👻. But actually, just because you’ve suffered in the past doesn’t mean it’s your weak spot forever. Our bodies are incredibly resilient and adaptable ☺️.

While a muscle tear can lead to weakness initially, with the proper rehab and care, most people can regain strength and function in the muscle 🏋️‍♀️. However, it’s important to approach recovery with patience as rushing the process or returning to activity too soon can increase the risk of re-injury.

Reasons a dog may need osteopathy👩🏻‍⚕️.

Making sure our pooches live their best lives means addressing their health from every angle. Osteopathy can help manage a range of conditions. From relieving joint pain to enhancing mobility, here are the most common reasons a dog might see me:

🐕 Age related issues: just like humans, dogs can experience joint stiffness and decreased mobility as they age.
🐩 Musculoskeletal injuries: dogs are active and can suffer from sprains, strains and other injuries.
🐕 Orthopaedic conditions: conditions like hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia and luxating patellas are common in certain breeds.
🐩 Rehab after surgery: following some surgeries, dogs may require rehabilitation to regain strength, mobility and function.
🐕 Chronic pain management: dogs, like humans can suffer from chronic pain conditions such as arthritis.

Our Story

CH Osteopathy is a friendly osteopathic clinic based within Avenue Tennis in Gillingham, Kent. As well as Osteopathy, we also provide Sports Massage Therapy. Whether you're looking for help with an injury or condition or would just like to relax and unwind, at CH Osteopathy, every appointment is tailored to your individual needs and includes consultation, assessment and treatment.

CH Osteopathy was founded by Christina Hellmann in 2015. Christina is a fully qualified Osteopath and Sports Massage Therapist. She graduated from the British School of Osteopathy with a Masters in Osteopathy and is also fully registered with the General Osteopathic Council and Institute of Osteopathy.

Christina knew from an early age that she wanted to pursue a career in Osteopathy and prides herself on a high standard of patient care. She has treated people of all ages for a range of problems and also regularly attends lectures to keep up to date with the latest information and research on health and fitness.
