Hi everyone,

We have been receiving a high volume of calls from patients asking if Shields Health Centre is closing down. Please be assured, Shields Health Centre is not closing.

There seems to be some confusion between Shields Health Centre and Pollokshields Medical Centre. Pollokshields Medical Centre will be closing down. but Shields Health Centre will continue to operate as usual.

Best regards,
Shields Medical Practice

Did you know NHS Pharmacy First Scotland is an NHS service provided by your local community pharmacy.

If you have a minor illness, a pharmacy is the first place you should go for advice.

You do not usually need an appointment and you can go to any pharmacy.

Your local pharmacist or a trained member of the pharmacy team will give you advice and provide medicine if needed. They may need to refer you to another healthcare professional such as your GP practice, dentist, optometrist or another NHS service if they feel your condition needs further investigation or more specialist care.

Flu (Influenza) is a common infectious respiratory virus. Symptoms may include a fever, a cough, a headache and tiredness. The virus spreads through the air when people cough or sneeze, or when they touch surfaces where the virus has landed then touch their eyes, nose or mouth. You can catch flu all year round, but it's especially common in winter. It can be serious, even if you're healthy.

The flu vaccine is the safest and most effective way to help protect against flu. It'll also help reduce the risk of spreading flu to others. Flu Vaccines are not provided by GP Surgeries you will receive an appointment in due course or you can book one through NHS Inform, click the link below and then click on start guide to check if you are eligible for Flu Vaccine.
