Last week I received news I really wasn’t expecting: my ACL is fully torn and there’s also some damage to the PCL. Excuse me… what? 😵

I was honestly shocked. What I thought was a minor fracture turned out to be a much bigger injury and now surgery might even be on the table?! It took me a couple of days to process that.

Being temporarily disabled sucks. Not being able to move, train, or even walk the way I normally do has been frustrating. Not being able to start my new job has been frustrating. And on top of that, I think I’m having a bit of an identity crisis.. being a yoga and movement teacher who currently can’t really practice movement.

I’m not sharing this to receive pity, but because this side of injury is something I’ve never really heard people talk about.

I know that some people live their lives without an ACL, and I also know that many athletes return to sport after ACL reconstruction. I know I’ll be back, maybe even stronger than before. It’s just a question of when.

In the meantime, I’ll do everything in my power to make this process go as smoothly as possible. And I suppose I’ll take you along with me 👯

The exercises you see in this video are part of what I’ve been doing while I wait to start physiotherapy (first appointment is on Monday) and to see a consultant… which who knows when that will be.

One (mini) step at a time. Quite literally.
